Painter, scenographer, screenwriter. Holds the title of “Merited Painter”!

Born in Topova, Gjirokastra, on January 15, 1932.

Dilo came into contact with art at the very young age of 5, when his village teacher gave him maps to color. He finished his higher studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). In 1958, Dilo started working as a film painter in cinematography. A year later in 1959, together with A. Mjagow, was the painter of the Albanian Russian film “Fortuna” (directed by Ozerov and Damo).

In the period of time 1961-1963, together with G. Ikonomi, created the scenography of the films “Debatik” (1961), “Special Task” (1963).

While in 1965 he made his first film as an independent painter with the title “The First Years” and until in 1975, he also made 7 films as a painter: “Commissar of Light” (1966), “Triumph over death” (1967), “Why this drum is beating” (1969), “The Happy Couple” (1975) as well as the television film with “Third” of 5 series (1978).

Among other things, he also wrote the screenplay for the film “Perse bie kjo daulle” (1969) and was a co-author with A. Kondo in the screenplay for the film “When the day dawned” (1971).

In the years 1969-1973, Dilo worked as a lecturer at the High Institute of Arts. After 1975, left cinematography and initially worked as the Secretary of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania.

Ksenofon Dilo worked for the visual arts, stage designer and prop designer in the Opera and Ballet theater, and recently until he became a freelancer, former Director of the Art Gallery in Tirana (1987-1992).

Ksenofon Dilo, together with G. Ikonomi, are the first Albanian film painters with higher professional education in Albania
