It is a morality play that denounces the hypocrisy and callousness of capitalism and argues that a just society can only be achieved if all individuals feel a sense of social responsibility. The original title “An Inspector Calls” is a play written by the English playwright JB Priestley, performed for the first time in the Soviet Union in 1945 and at the New Theater in London a year later. It is one of Priestley’s most popular works. for the stage and is considered to be one of the classics of English theater of the mid-20th century. The success and reputation of the play was enhanced by a successful revival by English director Stephen Daldry for the National Theater in 1992 and a UK tour in 2011–2012. The play is a three-act drama that takes place in a single night on April 5, 1912. This drama was put on the stage of the “Migjeni” Theater in 1983, and perhaps few people remember the excellent performance of the Shkodran actor Bep Shiroka in the role of Inspector Gull, masterfully building and embodying this character.
