Albanian cinematography enables the serial film "Coral Island" which is well known even by our audience through the VAT of the time. We were able to find a copy of this film from a broadcast of the German channel ZDF in the German language with a very good video quality. However, in Germany, this film was shown summarized in 4 series out of 9 that the original has.
Coral Island is a children's television series adapted from the 19th century novel. with the same title of the Scottish author RM Ballantyne. The 9-episode film was a joint production of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Thames Television. It was filmed on location in the western Samoan village of Salamumu and then in the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland in 1981.
The film became very well known during the 80s, appearing in many countries of the world. This film was also shown by the Albanian Radiotelevision TVSH.
The film is set in 1840, and its theme centers on 3 boys from England and their struggle for survival when their shipwrecks and they end up on a remote Pacific island. Jack (played by Scott McGregor), Peterkin (played by Nicholas Bond-Owen) and Ralph (played by Richard Gibson) must learn to survive on the island on their own, despite their very different characters and backgrounds. After befriending two natives on the island, they are rescued by an English missionary team and the two boys return to England together with the two natives.
