Sokrat Mio (1902-1992) "pioneer" of the Albanian theater director, its founder. Director and actor. He was born in Korce on March 16, 1902. For his contribution, he was honored with the title "Honored Artist". Known as a pioneer of the Albanian theater, director and teacher of several generations of Albanian actors. He comes from a rich family from Korça. Also in this city he completed his studies at the Greek high school. The time of the school coincided with the liberalization of the internal politics of the Ottoman Empire. This has resulted in a tendency to create mass patriotic societies and clubs, but also various cultural organizations, associations, patriotic activities and artistic activities. Such organizations were also founded in Korça, where the drama Besa by Sami Frasher is staged. In 1910, the "Morning Star" theater was also established. In this environment, Sokrat Mio was seen for the first time as a child, in 1912, in his first debut on the stage when he took a small role in the drama "Spyridon". In 1920 Sokrat Mio goes to Bucharest, three years later in 1923 he had the opportunity to admire the place of the event, where the great Albanian actor Aleksandër Moisiu had held a tour in Bucharest, Romania. After returning to his hometown, after graduation, Mio enters a period of unusual activity in the amateur cultural movement and the creation of new theater groups.

He joined one of these groups and played a major role in the play "Romeo and Juliet", and then in several melodramas by Albanian authors. In 1926, after receiving a high school diploma applied will allow him to study abroad (in Albania at that time there was no higher education). Thus, with the help of friends, in 1927, he left together with Christo Kono for Paris, where he began his studies in France, at the "Artur Berlioz" Conservatory, in the branch of the cello instrument. During this time, he returns to the country several times. In 1932, he reappeared again on the stage of the high school in Korça, where he played in the comedy "Gentlemen Peasants." After six years of studies in France, he returned to his homeland in 1933, giving up music precisely for the theater. In 1935, he became the main director of the cultural society "Rinia Korcare", which had also prepared the most famous Albanian dramas. His greatest artistic success was in 1937 with the staging of the drama by Henrik Ibsen – "Enemy of the People". After the outbreak of the Second World War, he joined the resistance movement trying to sow the seed in the partisan theater. In 1944, already in the liberated Korça, with actors selected from the ranks of female fighters, Shefqet Musaraj presented the "Epic of the National Front" which was a reference to current political events. In 1945, he was involved in the organization of courses for actors, he began working as a director and director of the People's Theater in Tirana, staging about 15 plays such as "Topazi", "Deputeti", "Marriage", "Tartufi", "Motori", etc. In 1950, he returned to Korçë, where he gave his valuable contribution to the establishment and consolidation of the theater. He was the brother of the great painter Vangjush Mio.
