Actor, outstanding director of Albanian Cinematography.
He is also known as a Playwright, Comedian, Librettist, as a director and artistic director of Tirana Variety for a decade.
Sheri Mita was born on March 14, 1943, in the village of Fterrë in Sarandë. After finishing high school, completed his higher studies at the High Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts), which he completed in 1967.
In this same year, was appointed a lecturer at this Institute in the Department of Actor’s Mastery, but after a while a long time ago, he left for biographical reasons. Initially, worked as a director at Kinostudio and as an actor at the “teatri Popullor” (today the National Theater).
Sheri Mita dedicated her entire life to the stage and cinematography, but he was not treated as he deserved by the previous regime. That’s how Mita was removed from the National Theatre, he was sent as a stage director to Berat.
Then, despite the requests of various institutions to return to the capital, they did not bring him. Mita was followed like a shadow by the biography of his father Shefki Mita, who had emigrated to America. Shefki was an outstanding professor of German and English, a passionate violinist and a patriot longing to see his homeland.
However, Sheri Mita returned to Tirana in 1989 as a director at the Circus of Tirana. In 1993, he was appointed Director of Estrada of Tirana and then as its artistic leader.
Retired in 1994. In the theater, he has performed in the plays:
“House on the Boulevard”, “The Second Face” by Drita Agolli, “Arturo Ui”, “Irreplaceable” by Qamil Buxheli.
Sheri, Shefki’s son, with talent will became the author of many comedies and dramas known by the Albanian public, the author of several stage plays, but the comedy “Keshilli i ndrikullave” stands out, successfully staged in the theater “Migjeni” in Shkodra by the director Serafin Fanko. This comedy was a brilliant success.
Such are also “Dy krisma ne Paris”, “A short winter”, together with more dramas, comedies, librettos for variety shows and programs for the new year, written by the hand of our writer Sheri Mita.
He has acted in 16 roles. Mita`s first role will be an episodic role in the film “Oshetime ne bregdet” in 1966. His major roles are in the films “Triumph over death” (where he plays in his youth alongside the people’s artist Naim Frashëri).
The role of the Russian journalist in the film “Face to Face”, the role of Mikele in the film “General Gramophone”, “Stars of the long nights” and dozens and dozens of roles where the extraordinary portrait of the artist Sheri Mita stands out, which is also characterized by a warm and resonant voice, which would be the envy of many other actors.
As a director, in addition to dozens of varieties shows, he has staged several dramas and comedies at the “People’s Theater”, in “Bylis” Fier, Berat, Korçë, etc.
As a literary creator, he has written six dramas and comedies. Four of them: the dramas “Unforgettable Years”, “Two shots in Paris” the comedies “Council of Godmothers” and “The Big Family” have won prizes in national dramaturgy competitions and National Theater Festivals.
The work was noted for the creation of a funny situation as well as some comic types, Leo and the three godmothers (ndrikullat), through which the old custom of matchmaking marriages, as well as the habit of taking things in the mouth, etc.
Mita has won several awards, including the Second Prize in the National Literature Competition on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Army, with the comedy “The Big Family”, 1971, the second prize in the National Literature Competition in 1983 with the drama “Two shots in Paris”; Second Prize in the National Literature Competition in 1974 with the drama “Unforgotten Years”.
For his artistic merits, Sheri Mita has been awarded the title “Merited Artist” and in 2004 he was awarded the “Naim Frashëri i Artë” Order.
