Pëllumb Kallfa Operator of chronic, documentary and feature films, director of photography at Kinostudio "Alhqiperia e Re". Honored Artist He was born in Tirana on August 28, 1945. He is the son of the well-known photographer Mehmet Kallfes, who influenced his passion for cinema as one of the first to work in a cinema studio. After graduating from the University in Tirana, the Faculty of History and Philology, he became an operator at Kinostudio and very soon began to shoot many newsreels, chronicle films and documentaries, of the latter more than 25 of them. It begins in 1971 with "Mes khume mish per popullin" continuing with "Basketbollista n10" in 1972, "Tourist Albania" (1972); "Using Nuclear Radiation" (1973); "The Life of Men" (1975); "Our ensemble in Italy" (1979); The skills expressed in the variety of shots, in the figurative composition, in the rhythm, the dynamics and the quality of the image make him take on independent work in the genre of feature film, initially with the films called "ABC…ZH" documentaries ( 1971) and "Cuca e malese" (co-operator with Dh. Anagnostin), but considered as artistic films due to the way of treatment and the general presence of fictional elements, ideographic overlays and subject lines. Then it follows in the well-known films "Poppies on the Walls"; "General Gramophone" (co-operator with V. Gjike); "In every season"; "Our friend Tili"; "Decision";" Tales from the past"; "Spring did not come alone"; "Years of waiting"; "Journey in spring"; "New Shelter"; "My wedding toast"; "Treasure"; "A little delay"; "Stones of my house"; "Hot Autumn `41"; "Error"; "Colors of time"; "One hundred percent" Among the features that identify the language and typology of P. Kallfe's photography, we can first mention the scrupulousness for the purity and clarity of the compositional construction of the frame, which includes the width and depth of the mise-en-scene, the expressiveness of the portrait, the associations figurative of the landscape or placement of the actors and the mass of extras. Furthermore, his photography stands out for the maneuvering and sanctification of lighting, lights, color in connotative artistic power and aesthetic functions that are put into the mood of the directorial idea, of the spiritual states of the actors and characters, of the filmic metaphors, and pictorial visions rich in interior, expressiveness and formal beauty.
