Merita Dabulla
Actress, ballerina and pantomimist in the State Circus.

Born in Tirana on January 18, 1957. In 1975, she graduated from the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School for ballet and was appointed as a ballerina, starting work at the Opera and Ballet Theater.

In this institution she worked for only one year, until 1976, enough for her, who during this time performed in several ballets such as: “Cuca e maleve”, “Halili and Hajria”, “The fisherman’s family” etc.

This same year, 1976, she began her studies at the Academy of Arts in the Department of Drama, graduating in 1980. During this period of time, when she was still a student, she performed in various dramas and comedies: “Gryka e nemur”, “Imaginary Invalid”, “Lezja”, “Prefect”, “Lady from the city” etc.

In the People’s Theater (today TK), Merita Dambulla was appointed right after graduation, exactly in 1980.

From this year, 1980, until 1993, she will be a presenter and pantomimist in the State Circus, a full 13 years in a row.

During this 13-year-old, she plays with the Circus in over 21 premieres out of 226 performances a year. It should be mentioned that in some premieres she was also an assistant director.

Based on this experience, Merita has taught at the Academy in the Department of Mastery of the actors, for the preparation of pantomimists and clowns. To be mentioned in her artistic career, she is also the creator of the column for children on Radio Tirana with the title “Listen to the Pioneer show”.

In addition to this, she was also the host of the weekly program of Albanian Television “E Shtuna Humori”.

In addition to her activity, she also performed in several secondary roles in Albanian films such as: “Beyond the stone walls” (1979), “The Kites / Balonat” (1979), “Warm hand” (1983), “Twice check mate” (1986), “The weight of time” (1988), “Edhe ashtu edhe keshtu” (1989).

She actually started her career as a voiceover actress in 1978, in a role offered by the director Gezim Erebara in the film “Girls with Red Ribons” where she will dub the voice of Anisa Markarian.

Her first role in the film remains the one in “Beyond the stone walls”! After the 90s, like most, she will leave for Athens (1993).
In Greece, it seems that her career has grown, without neglecting acting.

In the neighboring country, she is a member of the Athens Branch of the League of Writers and Artists of Greece and works in the central committee of the “Liter Art” Association.

She wrote in the local newspaper of Athens and in the “Tribuna” newspaper. Dabulla is a collaborator of the magazine “Iliriana”, excelling in the spread and publication of Albanian literature in Athens.

In Greece, she took part in 21 Greek films, but not all of them with main roles. Sometimes extra and sometimes a small role, but from these films we can single out those interpretations such as “The 7 Immortal Grandmothers”, “Below the Acropolis”, “Vodkaportokalli”, “Kafeja e Harrase” etc.
