Anastas Kristofori (1943-2022)
Successful actor of Albanian theater and cinema.
Born exactly on the day of independence, on November 28, 1943, in the village of Vuno in the district of Vlora. A very well-known actor both on the stage of the Theater and through the screen in the Film. There are many roles that make up his career. At Teater we can mention the role of Mr. Dëlf in the play “Arturo Ui” by Bertold Brecht, the role of the Prefect’s secretary in the play “The Prefect” by Besim Levonja, the role of the Apostoli in the play “Communists” by Ruzhdi Pulaha, and especially the role of Pericles Elsa’s father in the comedy “Apartment 176” by Adelina Balashi, but also many others.
He completed the High Institute of Arts, the drama branch in 1970 and was appointed to the “Teatri Popullor” soon after. Worked here until he retired in 2003. Kristofori stood out as a student with the role of Karandishev in the drama “Dowry Girl” by Ostrovsky in v. 1970.
His talent for characterizing original figures, accompanied by a sense of humor, concrete words and a sense of truth, gave him the chance to be a favorite actor in many of the performances of the National Theater, such as “The Fisherman’s Family” ( Vehipi), “Downing of the Year 45” (Jaku), “Mark me too” (peasant), “The Communists”, “Under the stage lights”, “Stairs” etc.
One of his most prominent roles was that of the director in A. Balashi’s comedy “Apartment 176”. His most recent role will be in 2010 in the drama “The Wrong Dinner”.
In the cinematography his first role will be in 1976 the role of Stavri, the steward of the orphanage in the movie “Poppies on the Walls” and other roles would continue, such as: the role of Ndoc Mark in the movie “Red Covenant” in 1982, the role of Mr. Antonio, the Quaestor of Tirana in the movie “Decision” , in 1984, the role of Mr. Mavroianis in the movie “Mission across the sea” in 1988, etc.
In the 90s, his last role will be the role of Pericles in the 1998 movie “Is coming him”, a television sequel to the well-known comedy “Apartment 176” by Adelina Balashi. Then in the 2000s, he will have a role in the drama “Wrong Dinner” as well as another in “Ismail Qemali’s Dream” .
Anastas Kristofori was one of the successful passionate reciters of Albanian poetry. After the 90s, he was also the director of the National Theater for a while.
For his artistic merits, Anastas Kristofori has been awarded the high title of “Honored Artist” . He died on February 2, 2022
