Ahmet Pasha
Successful theater and cinematographic actor.
“Merited artist”
Born on February 7, 1948 in Tirana, originally from Kukes, to be exact, his father was from Shishtaveci, a place with traditions in dances and folk dances. At the age of one, he went with his family to the city of Fier where he spent his childhood and a good part of his youth.
Since childhood, Pasha has had the desire to recite and act. In the period of youth, something stood out about him, special from others. In high school in Fier, he became active with some actors such as Fuat Boçi, Muhamet Sherri (an outstanding actor who has now passed away) with whom he had the opportunity to play in two dramas. Ahmet Pasha was selected for the talent he showed from the activities he did in high school. Fier’s actors nurture in him the desire to enter this path.
Actually, acting was not his desire, because at that time Ahmet was involved in sports, being a basketball player in the first team of the city of Fier. Pasha was even very devoted to basketball.
He had several other passions, but not to become an actor. Coincidence makes him come and compete in the Academy of Arts.
In fact, it was the encouragement of the director of the group and some other actors who told him: “try it once, you might like it, but you can also choose other branches”.
In 1966, he returned to Tirana, the year that coincided with the beginning of his acting studies at ILA. It competes with three materials, a story by Migjeni, entitled “Bukuria qe vret”, a poem by Pano Çuka and a fable. Xhemal Mbroja, at that time Director of the National Theater, Bardhyl Kosova, Pjetër Gjoka, Kujtim Spahivogli were in the commission.
After graduating from the High Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts) in 1970, Pasha began his activity as an actor in January 1971 in the troupe of the “People’s Theater” (today the National Theater), with a 40-year career on stage.
His first role on the stage of this theater is that of Flaine in the drama “Arturo Ui” by Bertol Brecht. Then he plays a series of roles in the dramas “A short winter”, “Red signal”, “Cuca e maleve”, “Dead River”, etc.
Among the successes in the Theater are the leading roles Isa Boletini (“Flag Road”), Abdyl Frashëri (“Epoka para gjyqit”), Gjenerali (“General of the Dead Army”), Inskerdoja (Monserati), Kadriu (Rajmonda), Mummy (Museum), as well as in the drama “Prometheus”, “In life”, “Romeo and Julliet”, “Tyrannosaurus”, etc.
On the stage of the National Theater, Ahmet Pasha has performed about 70 roles. Also, the actor Pasha has made a special contribution with the radio dramatizations that he started when he was a student. At that time, the well-known actor Reshat Arbana worked on the radio, and who was a director of it and he was among the first to call Ahmet together with two, three other actors such as Anastas Kristofori, and many others.
Ahmet was very popular on the radio also because of his voice, which according to them was a very radiophonic voice. There were also other directors working in Radio who offered him cooperation. At that time, very good things were done on the radio with shows like Theater on the Microphone, “Heroism of our people in the centuries”, “Artistic speech on the microphone”, children’s dramaturgical shows and shows for the youth.
It should be mentioned that this period was one of the periods with the actor’s happiness. Often people have managed to recognize him through the radio by his voice without having to see him in the theater, since the radio was more popular.
In addition to the theater, he has participated in several feature films. Pasha has been honored with prizes and diplomas in theatrical competitions and in 1989 was given the high title of “Merited Artist”.
In cinematography, his first role will be the role of Mimosa’s Father in the film “Mimosa llastica” in 1973. Many other roles would follow. Here we can mention the role of Bled’s father in the film “Partisan Grandfather” in 1982, the role of Bimbash in the film “Ballad of Kurbin” in 1989, etc.
Ahmet Pasha has been honored with prizes and diplomas in theater competitions and in 1989 he was given the high title “Merited Artist”.
