Mark Dodani (1926 – 2017)
Screenwriter, writer, at the same time a big name as a former security officer of Enver Hoxha’s communist state.

Mark Dodani was born in Narac on February 24, 1926. Finished primary school in Orosh, Mirdita. From 1939 to 1943, completed his secondary education in the city of Korce. In 1943, joined the Anti-Fascist Movement in the “Perlat Rexhepi” battalion (Puke-Mirdite regiment).

After graduation, Dodani heads the Youth Organization (BRASH) in Kukes. From 1946 to 1948, worked as the head of the Internal Affairs Bodies in Puke.

From 1949-1954, together with four of his friends, engaged in the task of discovering armed gangs and diversionist force that were thrown into Albania by foreign intelligence. Also motivated by the murder of his father and brother, Mark Dodani plays one of the main roles in the annihilation of these groups.

Dodani is considered one of the 10 most famous secret agents in Albania. He has worked for over 35 years in the State Security bodies.

In 1964, completes his higher studies at the University of Tirana, at the Faculty of History and Philology, Language and Literature branch. Until 1976, worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and from that time became a freelance writer, being attached to the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”.

Dodani was a consultant in the film “Special task” directed by K. Dhamo in v. 1963, a film that deals with tactics and truth in the detection and elimination of armed gangs, Albanian traitors, nazi-fascist collaborators during World War II.

In 1973, Dodani became a co-author with M. Fejzo in the script of another film made with the master by Kinostudio, Operation “Fire”;

In 1979, again co-authored with H. Hakani in the script of another film “The Guest”. He wrote 3 novels, one monographs, ten novels, several volumes of stories, three feature film scripts and five documentary scripts, among which we can mention:
“Life by the Lake” (1981 – director: Sh. Shala); “Pal Melyshi” (director: P. Xharra) “Heros of Vigu” (Director: I. Fortuna), “The Silent Front” and “Through fields / Neper Livadhet” co-author) as well as the story “A letter without a name”.
Mark Dodani lived in France for a long time.

Passed away in 2017.
