Liri Lushi
Actress / Director
Born in Tirana on February 22, 1954. Graduated from the Academy of Arts, acting department in 1976. She started her artistic career at the age of thirteen when she won the first prize as the best performer with the monologue: “Story for the four frontiersmen” by Ferat Cakaj.
The 9th RTSH Festival brought her the second trophy, this time as a singer.
After graduating as an actress, she immediately started working at the “Aleksander Moisiu” Theater – Durres and will stay at this institution until the beginning of the 90s. Lushi has had many roles with this theater, becoming one of the main actors of the troupe. Liri stands out with the role of Teuta in R. Qose’s monodrama “The Queen’s Death” at the Opera and Ballet Theater.
One of her sensitive characters was Urina in the drama “Vransire e shkurter” by Teodor Laco and later played in the film “Dorina” (1979). Through this role she was able to convey the concern and struggle of women for personality and equality in life social and family, broken through a fragile and also, determined human nature.
Shote Galica’s role in the drama “Braid of Wars”, performed with high artistic skill, made her known to Albanians all over the world.
Her artistic life on the stage of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” theater is full of roles and lead roles, mostly those of an epic-lyrical character. where they have always been applauded.
Liri Lushi has also performed in a considerable number of Kinostudio films. In 1976, she played the role of Mara. Her last role in these films was “Who`s the killer” – 1989. She was also active with the variety show of the city of Durres.
In 2000, Liri Lushi left her country and settled with her family in Zurich, Switzerland. She is never separated from her profession as an actress. Passion and dedicated work brings her new roles in Swiss production films; “Strähl” by Dschoint Ventschr AG, Zürich, “Dilemma” by Silvia Film Production AG, Zürich, “Day and Night” by Chris Niemeyer, Schweizer Fernsehen.
Since March 2004, Liri Lushi is the artistic director of the Studio for Theater and Film created by herself under the name of the great Albanian actor “Aleksandër Moisiu”.
