Edmond Budina Actor and director! He was born on March 21, 1952 in Tirana. Freshly graduated from the Tirana Academy of Arts in 1974, he began working as a professional actor at the National Theatre. He has performed about forty-five roles, mostly as a protagonist in national and foreign dramas, among which: Genti in "Tymra qe pastorhen"; Perlati in "Duke u gdhire 1945"; Professor Jani at the "Carnivals of Korça" in Comoros; etc. From 1977 to 1992, he was a member of the Artistic Council of the theater. For the first time he staged the play with Albanian poetry "Signature of the storm" 1981. Author of the stage adaptation of Ismail Kadare's works "Kush e solli Doruntina" directed by Fatos Haxhiraj, at the National Theater and directed by Pirro Mani at the Theater of Nations in Skopje. "Krushqi are frozen" staged by Agim Qiriaqi with the students of the Academy of Arts. "Night with the Moon" put on stage by him would mark, according to the critics and opinion of the time, a turning point not only for civic courage and getting out of ideological clichés, but also for a new form in the Albanian scene, which was expressed by interest large public and the shock it created. He has participated in about fifteen Albanian films such as "Tollia e dasma sime", "Girls with red ribbons", "The Bride", "The Warm Hand", "Face to Face", "Decision", "Living Wall", "Time does not wait" etc. From 1980 to 1992 he was an external teacher at the Academy of Arts for the subjects of acting, stage speaking and directing. He has collaborated with radio, television, newspapers and magazines, as the author of dramatizations and articles. In August 1990, he was among the forty most popular intellectuals of the country in the meeting with former president Alia. Representative of students and professors at the December 1990 meeting to seek political pluralism, which marked the change of Albania. The Italian period. In 1992, he moved to Italy, invited by the Italian state. In the years 1993-1994, he participated in the shooting of several documentaries, carried out by "Ipotesi Cinema" (the cinematographic school of the well-known director, winner of Cannes, Ermano Olmi), in the capacity of assistant director. In 1994, in the capacity of screenwriter and director, he realized the documentary "Guardando al ritorno" (Watching the return), participating in the MedFilm'96 Festival in Rome. The documentary was projected in many Italian schools and universities, becoming the subject of discussions. In 1995, he selected, translated, directed and interpreted Ismail Kadare's poetry and prose in the play "Tabir Sarai" produced by him in collaboration with the Fantaghiro theater in Padova. The play has been presented in various Italian cities and has received the appreciation of the critic and author of ten books on the theater, Antonio Attisani. In 1996, he is the protagonist of the play "Migrant" by Marco Balliani, in the role of the Captain (Ulysses), produced by ETI (Italian Theatrical Entity), shown in the most popular and important theaters in Italy, Teatro Vale in Rome, Pergola Firenze, Piccolo Milano (Giorgio Strehler Theatre), Mercadante Napoli, Tosse Genova, Kismet Bari, Turin, Parma, Peruggia, Modena, Reggio Emilia, etc. The show won the National Award, awarded by the president of the Italian Republic. In the years 2000 to 2008, he participated in the telefilm "Un posto al sole (A place in the sun). Produced and broadcast by RAI and the most watched in Italy for years, which has given recognition to the general public. In 2001, he directed the short film "Domenica delle palme" (The Day of the Palms), produced and broadcast by Tele+ simultaneously in twenty-three European countries and participating in the Turin Film Festival. In 2005, he won the Grand Prix as the best leading actor at the Tanger Mediterranean Short Film Festival, with the film "Luleborë" by R. Budin. He participated in the film "Tickets" by the well-known director, winner of Cannes. , Ken Loach, participant in the Berlin Festival in 2005. He performed in Carlo Vanzina's film "Ecceziunale veramente 2" (Truly extraordinary 2") alongside actors Diego Abbatantuono, Sabrina Ferilli, etc. He has collaborated with well-known actors of Italian theater and cinema Flavio Bucci, Ennio Fantastichini, Marzio Onorato, Marina Tagliaferri, Riccardo Polizzy Carbonelli. In 2003, his feature film "Letra ere" was shown in Italian cinemas, realized with the financing of the Italian Ministry of Culture, produced by Asp and Donatella Palermo and distributed by the prestigious Lucky Red. The film has also been distributed in Austria and Germany. It was broadcast by Sky TV. It is the first film by an Albanian director shown in cinemas outside Albania and broadcast by such a prestigious television. The film has participated in many festivals and won awards such as the best film, the best screenplay, among which the Quality Cinema Award from the Italian Ministry of Culture, by a jury composed of the most prominent Italian intellectuals and alongside the directors known Ermano Olmi, Giuseppe Tornatore, Gabriele salvatores. In 2011, he directed the film "Balkan Pazar", an Albanian-Italian co-production (produced by Era film and Mediaplex Italia) financed by KKK and the Italian Ministry of Culture, distributed in Italian cinemas by Mediaplex. The DVD of the film is distributed by Cechi – Gori group, the most important home video company in Italy. It continues to be in circulation even today in Feltrineli video stores and bookstores, all over Italy. The only Albanian film distributed on DVD, outside of Albania. The films "Letra ere" and "Balkan Pazar" are part of the list of quality films of Italian cinema and continue to be shown in the halls of "Cinema d'essai". They entered the well-known dictionary of the movie "Il Morandini". The most important Italian newspapers and critics have written extensively about the films "Letra ere" and "Balkan Pazar", even the prestigious American Variety, which is considered the "Bible" of world cinema, as well as the Washington Post. He recently participated in Eric Bernasconi's Swiss film "Fuori mira" (Off the target) produced by Ventura film and in the television film "La vita di Oriana Fallaci" (The Life of Oriana Fallaci) directed by Marco Turco, produced by Rai e Fandango, who are still in post-production. He is the head of the cinematographic house AB Film. For his role in the short film "Luleborë" Edmond Budina has been awarded the "Best Actor" Award at the Mediterranean Short Film Festival in Morocco.
