Pjeter Gjoka (August 3, 1912 – May 2, 1982) One of the icons of Albanian acting in theater and cinematography. He holds the highest title: People's Artist. He was born on August 3, 1912. He came from a well-known family from Dukagjini, which was more appreciated in the public opinion for the processing of coal, the mastery of opening wells and furnaces. The blood feud problems forced his family to leave the land and travel to Macedonia and Ulcinj in Montenegro, where Pjetri was born and baptized in the church of Shestan in that area. In that environment, Pjetri would turn 3 years old, to settle together with his family in Shkodër. He is regarded as one of the first artists who overcame the declamatory theater to skillfully bring close communicative figures. He performed about 90 roles in this theater, dozens of leading roles from the world dramaturgy, while he stayed on stage for 52 years in a row, even performing completely blind. In 1961, she is among the four actresses who were awarded the high title "People's Artist". He also acted in several feature films, creating accomplished figures. In addition to working as an actor, he has staged several parts as a director. His most prominent roles are; Shpendi in "Halili and Hajria" by Fatmir Djata, Mileri in "Love intrigue" by Shiler, Kardinal in "Conspiracy of the convicts" by Virte, Kharitonov in "For those who are at sea" by Llavrentjev. Pjeter Gjoka as a director has staged the national dramas "The Fight" by Xhemal Broja and "The Fisherman's Family" by Sulejman Pitarka. He has left an indelible mark on Albanian cinematography. He started his film career in 1953 with the film "Skenderbeu", which won the Cannes Film Festival award in 1954, to continue with the films "Her Children", "Tana", "Furtuna", "Guerrilla Unit", "The Footsteps". ", "The Third", "General of the dead army" and "Stars above Drin". Pjeter Gjoka was one of the oldest collaborators of the microphone of Radio Tirana.
