Astrit Tota
Film and costume painter at Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”

Born in Tirana on March 21, 1938. Worked as a prop designer in the first four films: “Special Task” (1963); “Our Land” (1964); “The first years” (1965); “Light Commissar” (1966).

After this experience, he made 6 films as a costume painter and at this time he graduated from the High Institute of Arts and started working as a painter in Kinostudio with the 1970 with film “Emperor’s Bed”.

From 1967 to 1993, in total as a film and costume painter, he made about 31 films, among which: “At the beginning of summer” – 1975, which was awarded a prize for the figurative part; “Sounds of war” – 1976; “Concert in the year `36” – 1978; “Beyond the stone walls” – 1979; “Little Partisan Velo” – 1980; “Threat” – 1981; “The road to freedom” – 1982; “Bitter Spring” – 1985; “Whiteness” – 1986; “Check Mate Twice” – 1986; “Flutura in my cabin” – 1988; “Who is the killer” – 1989; “Bunker Colonel” – 1996, etc.

He is one of the veteran painters who helped in the development of the scenography of the Albanian film as well as the painter of the first cartoon with dolls “Girl with geese” – 1979.

After 1990 Tota emigrated to New York, America.
