Niko Shallko
Engineer, voice operator.
Shallko was born in Tirana on December 13, 1941, where he completed his studies at the “7 Nentori” polytechnic high school in the electrical department. He started his higher studies in Czechoslovakia in 1959 and graduated from the University of Tirana in 1965 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering for weak currents.
Niko worked as an engineer at Radio Tirana from 1965 to 1975, and from there he was transferred to Radio Korca where he worked until April 1982. From this year until 1987, he worked as a sound operator and in charge of the sound department at Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” (after Alba Film).
Between 1997 and 2000, he worked at the National Center of Cinematography. He first worked as a sound operator in feature films: “On vacation days” – 1982 / “Friends” – 1982.
After that, he was absent for a long time, being appointed as the head of the sound department. In 1990, he was engaged again as a sound operator in feature films: “Chronicle of a Night” – 1990 / “Death of a Man” – 1992 / “Last Love” – 1994 / “Obituary” – 1994 / “Bolero” – 1997 / ” Funeral Business” – 1999.
At the same time, he worked as the author of the soundtracks in the documentary films “Memories from Gjirokastra” / “Tourist Albania” / “Balkaniada” / “Kole Idromeno” / “Folklore Festival of Gjirokastra” / “Pope Voytilla’s Visit to Albania” / “Jan Kukuzeli / “Tirana `96” – 1997.
Shallko also worked in the animated film, performing the soundtrack of many films such as: “Beautiful House” / “Variation on the Theme” / “Robinson and the Saviors” – 1986 / “Happy again” – 1987 / “Two brothers and a wolf” – 1987 / “Mind, mind” – 1987 / “Things that happen” – 1988 / “Requiem” – 1992 / “Triptik” – 1994 etc.

However, the aim of this page is not to overlook and forget any of our artists’ names as long as we have the opportunity to remember them, always based on the information gathered.
