Kozma Lara 1932 – 2019
Composer, pianist and lecturer “Merited Artist”!
Kozma Lara was born in Durrës, on January 4, 1930. Graduated from the High Institute of Arts for music in 1964. His first works began to be heard in the 60s.
In 1965, his symphony was applauded, a year later, he composed the music for the ballet “Fatosi Partizan”, which was staged by choreographer Panajot Kanaçi.
In 1958 he studied at the P. Ilic Conservatory, Tchaikovsky in Moscow (former USSR), in the Composition branch. He was a student of Professor Sergey Artem’yevich Balasanian.
Over the years, he has contributed to the People’s Army Ensemble, the Opera and Ballet Theater in Tirana as Concert Master and the “Mujo Ulqinaku” High School of Music, Durrës.
In addition to his other musical activity, he also composed the music for the feature films “The Trace” (1970); “The Intendent” (1980)
Kozma Lara passed away on January 18, 2019 at the age of 87!
