Gjergj Vlashi (1928-2020) Director, writer He was born in Durrës on July 13, 1928. He completed primary and secondary school in his hometown. In the first years after the war, he was engaged in amateur theater and debuted in several plays such as "Under the Chestnuts of Prague", "The Prefect", "Cani Hoxha", etc. At this age he was engaged in amateur theater and in 1953 he He was even appointed director of the "Mujo Ulqinaku" sea club In his long career, he has staged over 100 premieres, mainly with the troupe of Durrës students of the Dramatic Art Academy where he has been an external lecturer for several years we mention, "Whose turn is it", "With the whip of satire" (with the creativity of Fan Noli), "Satirical album" (with the creativity of Ismail Kadare), "Sofra Balkanike" etc. 
In 2000, he was invited to the Cairo festival to hold the theme "Recorded in the Twentieth Century" and to participate in the Egyptian Experimental Festival. In 2002, he was invited to the "Smiles of Europe" Festival in the northern Italian city of Civilidade in Friuli, where an Italian troupe performed his comedy "Jacket". As a writer, he has published 17 books; six novels, eight volumes of stories and four children's books. He has written several film scripts. He owns seven foreign languages and has also been involved in translations, publishing books by Kafka, Buxat, Saramago, A. Kristi, the play by Aleksandër Moisiu "The Prisoner", two anthologies – one of Spanish-American stories and the other of Austrian stories of the twentieth century. – as well as two plays by Pirandello. The Durrës Theater Troupe has performed the comedy "Two and a Half Brothers", while the Puppet Theater has performed the children's piece "The Wrath of Komcave", with which it took first place at the Pogradec Festival in 2007. He passed away on October 4, 2020 at the age 92 years old. The respected director left behind his wife Shpresa Velaj, a teacher, and two sons, Zefin, who is a painter and lives in the USA, and Florian, a violinist in the "Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia" (Spain) and leads the "Grupo Instrumental Siglo XX".
