Ramiz Rama (1938-2015)
Actor of the “Migjeni” Theater, Shkoder and Albanian Cinematography.
Born in the city of Shkodra on November 9, 1938. He started early, as early as 8 years old. The late, well-known Tofik Gjyli (a former talented children’s writer) asks the teacher Gjyliana Kçira, a child for a show on Radio Shkodra to recite poems and monologues. This would be the future actor Ramiz Rama, who would give an excellent performance at that age, so much so that since then and back, the performances on the radio and at school were not separated.
Like every child, he had many dreams and wishes. He wanted to become an aviator, sail the sea, sell everywhere, but Ramiz’s life took a different direction. Those who would become his friends, his professors Sadete Vigani, Gjosho Çarkaxhija, Jup Kastrati, Nuri Çaushi, Xhemal Broja, etc., stayed very close to him and activated him in various performances.
At the Artistic High School in Tirana, he was lucky, but he didn’t know that tomorrow his friends: Bexhet Nelku, Serafin Fanko, Viktor Bruçeti, etc., together with Ramiz Rama would become real artists in the halls of theaters and on the screens of cinemas or even television. The dream that he valued very little at that age, but today the pride he feels when the actor’s name is written next to those names that make Albanian cinematography great.
The first serious role that Ramiz has successfully played was that of Xhindi (a malevolent deity) in the city of Kukës. It dealt with the marriage of an old man with a young girl. That role was so impressive that for 3 years that he lived in Kukës, they did not call him by his name but Xhindi!
The Higher Institute of Arts is a very powerful school, here the Shkodran actor grows both physically and as an actor. He defended his diploma with the part “White and Black” by Fadil Paçrami, as well as the other part “Two Lords from Verona”. It is immediately rated among the best.
In 1966, in July, he started working at the “Migjeni” Theater , a dream he had been waiting for many years. The great director of that time, Mihallaq Luarasi, who led the Shkodra troupe, assigns him a role in the drama “Maiden of the Mountains” by Loni Papa, the role of Pjetër Zeka, who is now known by everyone. The opinions given by the public after this role are optimal evaluations.
Then his roles and interpretations are many, in dramas, movies, comedies and many other genres, but we would single out: the role of the Blue King, in the drama “Gjaku i Arbërit” (F. Krajes), the role of Prêka, in the drama “Shpartallimi” (F. Krajes), the role of Bektash Shkoza, in “The Second Face” of D. Agolli, the role of the head of administration, in “The Lion of the House” (Comedy), the role of Alush aga in “The End of a Comedy”, the role of Niqifor, in the comedy “Comrade Niqifor” by P. Kulla, the role of Prenge`s Qosja in “Baca i Gjetajve”, etc.
In films, from the first Albanian film “Fortuna” and then “Day that brought spring”, “Flame of the Mountains”, “The Uninvited”, “A night without light”, “When the doors of life open”, etc.
Ramizi has had the honor and luck to get experience from the greats of “Migjeni” actors such as Tinka Kurti, Adem Kastrati, Ndrek Luca, Bep Shiroka, Elez Kadrija, Lec Shllaku, Ymer Bala, and even the director Serafin Fanko.
Passed away at the age of 77 on July 3, 2015
Published for the first time in August 2015 and revised in the following years.
