Adem Gjyzeli
Dramatic actor of the “Petro Marko” Theater – Vlore and Albanian Cinematography.

Gjyzeli is the well-known actor of our stage, especially part of the “Petro Marko” Theater, Vlore, originally from Cameria. Born on October 15, 1941 from Cameria family that moved to Albania as early as 1945. In 1955, Ademi began his studies in Tirana at the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja”, which he continued until 1964 at the acting school at “Aleksander Moisiu”. A year before graduating (1958) from High School, he became active in the ranks of the “Teatri Popullor” troupe (today TK) in the performances of the director Vangjush Vicani with the title “Youth”.

In 1960, we find him part of the professional stage of the city of Gjirokastra. After finishing his studies as an actor in 1964, he began working at the “Petro Marko” Theater in Vlore, where he performed hundreds of roles, most of them as protagonists alongside the great actress Liza Laska.

He will stand out and his qualities will be highlighted on the stage of this theater, it is enough to mention some impressive performances of the artists from Vlora such as: “Roots” (1970) directed by Leka Bungo; “Such a love” directed by Nazmi Bonjaku; “The Yatagan” (1975) by the same director N. Bonjaku; “The second face” directed by Leka Bungo; “Difficult years” (1976) and “Bread of our hands” directed by Vladimir Balles; “Shpartallimi” (1982) and “The Barber of Seville” directed by Besnik Aliaj; Stringed like a necklace cartridge” directed by Pjeter Gjoka and Lazer Filipi; and many other shows.

He has been less active in Cinematography, but the roles he played have remained as relics in the necklace of Albanian works of art, such as in the film “Tana” (1958) “Triumph over Death” (1979) in the role of Imam; “Counselors” (1979) where he plays Abedin; “The Old Cartridge” (1980) in the role of Xelal; “Brother and friend” (1980) in the role of the merchant Thoma; “Autumn Reproaches” (1981) Professor Andoni; “The Intendant” (1981) in the role of Salo the shopkeeper until the 1984 film, “Warm Hand” in the role of Xhezo.

Other films: “Tana” – 1958 / “Coats over Wire Fance” – 1977.

He was honored with the “Naim Frasheri i Arte” Order.

Passed away on July 29, 2004. Adem Gjyzeli (posthumously in 2004) was honored as “Honorary Citizen” of Vlora with the motivation: “For outstanding contribution over 30 years, as an actor in the theater of Vlora and on the cinema screen. For the dedication, talent and love he has shown for Vlora and the Vlora art lover in his long artistic career. For valuable contribution in the field of stage and art, especially enriching the fund of the drama theater of the city of Vlora”.
