Grigor Ikonomi
He is the first painter graduated from Kinostudio’s film!
Born in Berat on January 21, 1934. In his hometown, he attended 7-year school and a pedagogic class. Ikonomi continued his studies in Tirana at the artistic high school Jordan Misja, in the branch of visual arts and completed his higher studies in Moscow at the Cinematographic Institute in the faculty of painting for scenography, graduating as a film painter in 1960.
After finishing his studies, he was appointed to the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” as a film painter. Debuted for the first time in the cinematography as a painter in the film “Detyre e posacme” (1963) together with K. Dilon, and also together in the other film “Debatik” (1964).
His first independent film as a painter is “Toka e jone” (1964) and also in 1966 in the film “Oshetime ne bregdet”.
In the period 1963-1965, Ikonomi also worked as a painter in documentary films such as “Migjeni”, “Vangjush Mio”, “Qemal Stafa”.
Later he left the cinematography and worked alongside his work as a model maker of folk costumes in the “Migjeni” Artistic Enterprise, a theater and stage set designer in several amateur and professional groups.
He was a painter of the Artistic Ensemble “Migjeni” where he was honored with several prizes in the competitive performances of the Decades of May.
As the first painter of the film, the graduate provided a good help for creating a technical and professional base in the construction of sets, which until that time were done on a dilettante basis.
