Gëzim Qëndro (1957 – 2008)
Painter, director of the animated film and Teacher at the Academy of Arts.
Born on December 22, 1957. Graduated from the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja” in Tirana, majoring in painting.
Qendro also completed his higher studies for one year at the Academy of Fine Arts, finishing them at the V/d Beeldenke Kunsten Academy in Amsterdam, Holland during the period 1992-1996.
On January 30, 1980, he started working as a painter in the department of cartoons near Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”, later called “AlbaFilm Animacion”.
In 1984, he made his first film as a painter, “The Empire Upside Down”, where he was awarded the Medallion for his drawings at the 6th Festival of Drawing Film.
His first film as a painter and director was in 1986, “Inspiration”, continuing with other films such as:
“Pipiruku in the Barn” (1988), “The Champion” (1989) etc. of this “Panarama” magazine, the organ of this gallery.
At the same time, he is the author of many articles and translations based on different press bodies. As a painter, he has participated in several painting exhibitions inside and outside Albania, such as 4 in Holland (1994-1995); in the Grado exhibition in Italy (1996) as well as 4 exhibitions in Tirana Onufri, that of Photography Marubi gallery XXI in 1998 etc.
Qendro passed away on February 27, 2018.
