Francesco Nuti (17 May 1955 – 12 June 2023) Italian actor, director and screenwriter. Nuti was born in Florence on May 17, 1955, the son of Renzo Nuti, a barber originally from Mugello, and Anna Giglio, a Calabrian originally from Crotone. He spent his early years in the Tuscan capital and then moved, to because of his father's work, in Narnali, a part of Prato. In 1974 he graduated from the "Tullio Buzzi" Institute in Prato. He took his first steps in the world of art – albeit an amateur – when he was still a student, staging various monologues written by his own hand and continuing with some zeal even after he was employed as a worker in a textile company in Prato. . In the late seventies, he became a member of the cabaret trio "Giancattivi" – a group already composed of Alessandro Benvenuti and Athina Cenci. In those years, "Giancattivi" took part in very successful broadcasts, such as "Black Out" radio and "Non stop" TV. The trio, directed by Benvenuti himself, made their film debut in 1981 with the film Donald Duck's West, which reprises part of the group's historic repertoire. In 1982, he left the trio, which three years later finally broke up, and began a "solo" film career, taking part, as screenwriter and leading actor, in several films directed by Maurizio Ponzi: "Madonna, che silenzio c`e` stasera (1982), "Io, Chiara e lo scuro" (1983) and "Io sono felice" (1983), which give him some fame, especially the role of Francesco Piccioli, present in it the second of three films, with which he won the David di Donatello and the Silver Ribbon for Best Actor. Francesco Nuti's career also moved behind the camera, making his directorial debut with Casablanca, Casablanca (1985), the ideal follow-up to Io, Chiara e lo Scuro, for which he won the award for Best New Director. at the San International Film Festival. In the same period, he devoted himself to music. In 1988 he participated in the Sanremo Festival with the song "It will be for you", which was later recorded by Mina, and in a duet with Mietta, with the song "Let's breathe", composed by the singer-songwriter Biagio Antonacci and then recorded in 1992. In 1994, after a long and arduous production, he made the ambitious film "OcchioPinocchio", which however was not liked by the public and critics, proving to be a scorching failure. Therefore, he then tried to resume the trend that decreed his great success, but fails to repeat his glories. Movies: "Mr. Quindicipalle" (1998), "I love Andrea" (2000) and "Caruso, zero in condota" (2001) receive a lukewarm rating at the box office. , not comparable to the successes of previous years. In February 2009, his brother Giovanni gave an interview to the Florentine newspaper La Nazione, announcing his return home.
