The column of wise sayings The world-famous Italian director Federico Fellini (1920 – 1993) described cinema as follows: "Cinematography is the direct way to compete with God" Federico Fellini holds the title "Cavaliere di Gran Croce" January 20, 1920 – October 31, 1993) He was a prominent Italian director. Felini is known for his special style, which combines fantasy and baroque images. Officially regarded as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time. His films are ranked high in critical polls. such as "Cahiers du Cinéma et Sight & Sound" which ranked his 1963 film "8+1⁄2" as the 10th best film. Felini's best-known films include "La Strada" (1954), "Nights of Cabiria" (1957), "La Dolce Vita" (1960), "8½" (1963), "Juliet of the Spirits" (1965), the "Toby Dammit" segment of Spirits of the Dead. (1968), "Fellini Satyricon" (1969), "Roma" (1972), "Amarcord" (1973) and "Fellini's Casanova" (1976). Fellini was nominated for 16 Academy Awards during his career, winning a total of four in the Best Foreign Language Film category (the most of any director in the award's history). He received an honorary Lifetime Achievement Award at the 65th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Fellini also won the Palme d'Or for La Dolce Vita in 1960, twice at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1963 and 1987, and the Career Golden Lion at the 42nd International Film Festival in Venice in 1985.
