Fatos Haxhiraj,
The well-known actor and director of the Albanian stage,
Born in Tirana on January 4, 1943. He is part of an outstanding constellation of Albanian art.

After graduating from ILA in the drama department in 1966, he was appointed an actor in the “Teatri Popullor” exactly one year later (1967).
The teachers of Fatos have been big names such as Kujtim Spahivogli, Naim Frashëri, Pjetër Gjoka. Later he works as a lecturer for 16 years in a row near the Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1981, after completing his directing studies, he was appointed a director at the National Theatre. In 1991, he specialized in directing in Italy.
He performed over 40 roles in the theater, where he stood out as a performer of various characters in plays such as “The Second Face” in the role of Aleksi, “Arturo Ui”, “Sun on the Castor”, “Patient Doctor”, “After two years “, “The man who saw death with his own eyes”, “Cuca e maleve”, “The general of the dead army”, “Mark me too”, “Furnace”, “The Era before trial”, “The irreplaceable”, “The prefect”, “Fisherman’s Family”, “Year 1961”; “Communists” etc.
Also, as a director, he has very successfully staged a number of works from our and the world’s dramaturgy, such as “Njerez te afert”, “The brilliance and fall of comrade Zylo”, “Gryka e nemur”, “After the last exam”, “The house with two gates”, “Zbutja e kryeneces”, “The marriage of a lawyer”, “After the death”, “Who brought Doruntina”, “The wrong dinner”, etc worked as a director with Pirro Mani in the dramas: “Besa e Madhe”, “Udha e Flamurit”, etc.
He has also played several roles in cinematography, including: “The Guerrilla Unit” (1969); “Oshëtime ne bregdet” (1966); “THE Monument” (1978); “The General of the Dead Army” etc.;
He was one of the actors who had the great fortune to play alongside the icons of the Albanian scene, such as: Kadri Roshi, Sulejman Pitarka , Prokop Mima, Ndrek Shkjezi, Gjon Karma, Besa Imami, Drita Pelingu, Marie Logoreci and many other artists;
Fatos Haxhiraj has also collaborated and performed with foreign directors and actors in Italy and Switzerland.
In 2010, the “Wrong Dinner” show brought a dramatization based on Ismail Kadare’s novel for the Albanian audience.
For his work as an artist, he has been awarded various prizes and holds the title “Merited Artist”. He is the husband of actress Drita Haxhiraj. They currently lives with his family in Italy since 1992.
