The generation that grew up with the Albanian films of the cinema studio, have seen him play in several films. This is the actor of the amateur movement Ndoc Luka. His real profession was head nurse in the ENT department in Hospital n. 12th in Tirana. Although his special appearance, facial features and characteristic voice, the directors have made him to be part of some feature films of the cinema studio, always in negative roles, episodic roles.

The role with which he is identified is the one with the nickname “Crab” in
“Broken Threads” Movie.

Ndoc Luka was born on June 10, 1923, in the village of Rras, in Mirdita, under the name Ndue Lleshi. When he was 8 months old, he moved with his mother and brother (about 6 years old) to the city of Shkodra, right after his father’s death.

In the city of Shkodra, he grew up and was educated in the “Arra e Madhe” neighborhood with well-known artists such as Pjetër Gjoka, Ndrek Luca, Palin Preka, etc. Since childhood, he has been involved with the art and culture of the time in Shkodër, but after High School, he finishes nursing.

The government of the time transferred him to Tirana as a sanitary agent. So in 1940 he started working in the former civil hospital no. 1 in the capital.

After the war and until 1965, he worked at the National Theater as an external actor. After 1965, he was involved with the theater groups of Tirana (see photos below).

However, in the field of medicine he was a talent. Never once Prof. Besim Zyma did not enter the operating room without Luka. When asked by his family why he did not devote himself only to art and culture, he would answer: “Civilized Shkodran says that craft is a gold bracelet…! That’s why I’m also a nurse by profession”!

Not only Ndoci but also his son Gjini and his wife have worked their whole life in medicine. In the house of him. all actors, directors, various artists of our country often came to Luka. Even in the living room and yard they debated and improvised about the next film or theater.

Ndoci highly appreciated Mr. Serafin Fanko as the most advanced actor and director in recent years. Meanwhile, the “People’s Artist”, Ndrek Luca was like home since they grew up together in a neighborhood near “Arra e Madhe” in Shkodër. Another great artist, Kadri Roshi, used to bring “raki” from the south.  Mr. Luka lived with his family in Tirana at “Ali Baushi” street no. 93, a ground floor house with a large yard. In cinematography, he acted in several films, starting with the one in 1967 in “Encounter with Death” in the role of a German officer.

“Gaforrja”, the interpreted role that identifies Ndoc Luke in the film “Fije qe priten”

This is how we see him interpreted in the films:
1973 – Operation “Fire”; 1976 – “Broken Threads”; 1978 – “Girl with red ribbons” 1984 – “Decision”. In the film Girl with Red Ribbons, the voice is dubbed because he had an operation for laryngeal cancer that year.

In addition to the films of the time, he was active as an external actor, as I mentioned above, from the “Teatri Popullor”, in various shows, among which we can mention “The House on the Boulevard”!

His brother Simon Luka was very engaged and well-known in the art and culture of the 1930s in Shkodër, among others a friend and friend of the great “Migjen” and the hero of the people Qemal Stafa.

October 25, 1984 will be the unfortunate day that he will die. Ndoci had the surname of the tribe, which was Luka, while his son Gjini, an adopted child, still bears his father’s surname… Lleshi.

Ndoci was Gjin’s cousin, born in a tower, and since he had no children, he adopted Gjin, the honorable gentleman who shares with our website the valuable information as above.

For Gjini, Ndoci was not only a father but also the best friend of his life. The loss of his father has stopped his smile forever. As his son Mr. Gjin Lleshi-Kreshta, in the library and materials of Mr. Luka, he left many unpublished poems. Gjin’s desire was to publish them, but he never gave up, reminding his son of a saying from the old days: “In the government offices, even if you lose your cell, don’t go back and get it…”
