Esperanca Konomi.
Director and painter of the animated film.

Born in Tirana on January 16, 1959 from a patriotic family. Her father was a partisan of the Anti-Fascist War, a doctor and officer, while her mother, Koncita, was a doctor of Spanish origin from the exiles after the war in Spain.

She graduated from the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja” and then completed her higher studies in painting in The High Institute of Arts in 1980 and on August 16 of the same year, started working in the Kinostudio “Shqiperie Re” in the animated film sector, until 1991.

After a short period, she became well acquainted with the animation technique, taking it upon herself to realize her first film with drawings and as a director, “Stop, kundravajtje” (1981), for which she was awarded a prize.

Then until in 1990, Konomi made 6 other films, such as:
“Gift for June 1st, “The Young Omeri” (1984), “Trimerite e cuditshme” (1984), “The whole city laughs” (1987), “Talenti i babit” (1990), where with this film won the first prize at the 8th Festival of Documentary and Cartoon Films. 1990.

In this film, the perseverance to create a harmony between music, painting, expressive elements and the universalizing power of the idea stood out. From film to film, she perfected the technique, the directorial concept, and chose a diverse theme with subjects that influenced the approach of children to the big and small screen, in their entertainment and education.

After in the `90s, she and her father, due to economic difficulties, emigrated to Spain, to the birthplace of her mother, the gynecologist Conchita.

NOTE: We do not have any information beyond 2002 about  Esperanca Konomi.
However, the aim of this page is not to overlook and forget any name of our artists as far as we have the opportunity to remember them, always based on the information gathered.
