Andonis Filipi Theater director He was born in Berat on January 15, 1957. He graduated from the Academy of Arts, Faculty of Performing Arts for theater direction during the period 1978-1982. He started working as a director in the Berat Theater and then moved to the "Skampa" theater. in Elbasan, where he stood out with the performance of the drama "Death" by Woody Allen (1996/1998). He has obtained postgraduate qualifications (Tirana, 1984-1985; Austria, 1997). He has staged about 30 works inside and outside Albania. Also, the director Filipi has participated in various international theater festivals, such as: Turkey, Macedonia, Italy, Bulgaria, Russia, Romania, Belgium. Participant with references and workshop directions in many international competitions, such as: Italy, University of Urbino and Viterbo, Sibiu-Romania, Gabrovo and Varna Bulgaria, Royal University of Liege-Belgium. His tendencies in directing begin to be identified more and more through the ironic, sarcastic and comic treatments of the text, with predilections for the grotesque, the ritual, the symbolized gesture, the joke, and other signs that came from the applications of a contemporary theatrical code. This directorial poetics was especially noticed in the play "The Teacher" by Ionesco (1997 and 1999), where the plastic processing of action and gesture, mise-en-scène with paradoxical transport and juggling, rhetoric and the purposeful emphasis of the word in unmasking functions became the means of preferred for the expression of ideas and directorial fantasy. The Romanian version of this play in the theater "Ariel" Rumniku Velcea-Rumani, with the subtitle Maestrul, was awarded as the best show in the Ionesco Festival, Slatine-Romani, 2003. He has also successfully recreated this comedy in the Theater Popular "I Cernodrinski", Prilep, Macedonia, in September 2005, as well as in Pristina, 2008. In 2002, A. Filipi reached a well-deserved artistic height with the treatment he gave to the comedy "The future lies in the egg" by Ionesco , with which he won the "Best Director" award at the "Balkan 2000" International Comedy Festival, in Korce, June 2004, as well as at the Albanian Theater Festival in Diber, Macedonia, October 2004. In 2003, he directed the poetic drama "Challenge" with the subtitle "To fly, what a pleasure" by Doru Motoc. At the "Slavic Clown" international theater festival in Moscow, June 2005, she was awarded the First Prize for interpretation (played by Niko Kanxheri and Alfred Trebicka). A. Filipi is the creator and artistic director since 1999 of the ten editions of the contemporary theater festival "Skampa"; co-creator and organizer of the "Apollon" acting festival, Fier; director of the European Association of Albanian Contemporary Theater – ATK; with contributions as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts, the Faculty of Performing Arts, the directing department and the University "A. Xhuvani", Faculty of Human Sciences, Elbasan. In 2018, the director Andonis Filipi takes the stage of the Experimental Theater "Kujtim Spahivogli" with the show "Volpone".
