Bruno Shllaku
Actor, director
“Albanian theater is become as a refuge in purgatory”!

He is a well-known actor not only in the “Migjeni” Theater but also in the Albanian scene in general. It can very well be called “the last of the Mohicans” of that golden generation that emerged from the bay of the Shkodra city. Born on February 3, 1956, in the City of Shkodra.
We will find his artistic beginnings at a young age, when he was only 11 years old, with the troupe of the “Skampa” Theater of the Elbasan city, in which his father, the People’s Artist Lec Shllaku, worked as a director, in the Russian drama “The trumpet”.

Bruno is also the grandson of the prominent Albanian translator Gjon Shllaku (the translator of Homer’s Iliad as the only Albanian).

In 1982, for his artistic values, he will be appointed as an actor at the professional theater “Migjeni” in the city of Shkodra. His first role will be in the drama “Blood of Arbër” (1982) by Fadil Kraja, directed by the People’s Artist, Serafin Fanko. Later, other roles would continue, such as in the dramas “The Case of Blerta” (1985), “The General of the Dead Army”, “Investigation” etc.

In 1992, he will leave his homeland together with his wife, the other well-known artist of the “Migjeni” Theater, Pasqualina Shllaku (Gruda), for Greece, where he will form a theater for children in the Greek language.

Shllaku returned to Albania in 2004 and resumed work at the “Migjeni” Theater as an actor and director. With the part “Mirandolina” by Goldoni, he will participate in the Nationwide Acting Festival “Apollon 2005” held in the city of Fier in 2005.

In 2008, he performed in the drama “Mother Teresa” by the “Honored Artist” Lazer Filipi. There are many roles that Bruno Shllaku has played in cinematography.

From his role in 1981 in “A night without light” to “Burrnesha” (2014) candidate for the award ” Golden Bear” at the Berlin festival. His masterful interpretation in the film “Compass” directed by Bujar Alimani will make this film receive many awards at several International Festivals.
