Adriana Elini – Xhajanka (1937-1994)
Editing director and documentary film director

Adriana Elini is part of the constellation who dedicated themselves to Albanian cinema. She belongs to the second generation of editing directors who started working at the end of the 50s and became a documentary film director for three decades.

From the end of the 1960s until the end of the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” era, Adriana made dozens of short documentary films, nineteen of them made only in the 1970s, among which we can mention “Kole Idromeno”; “Our Carpets”; “Ancient Art”; “Young Master”; “Prosperous land”; With rifle and pen for Motheeland”; “Manush Alimani”; “Each line is a drawing”;

Adriana, with love and dedication to her profession, rose from editing director to documentary film director, and for three decades she created indisputable values in the performing arts.

Over 40 documentary and artistic films, reportages, chronicles of the events of the time bear the signature of filmmaker Elini-Xhajanka, who during her career was honored with several awards.

In addition to the artistic side, her films also have historical value, as they testify to a period when freedom of thought and expression was absent, making art was difficult.

She was born in Tirana on April 3, 1937. Completed her studies at the Faculty of History and Philology and in 1958 was appointed to the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”, initially as an editor of newsreels and chronicles. Then in v. 1968 is sent as a montage director.

In fact, a year ago, in 1967, she worked for the feature film “Open Horizons” and then “Estrada on Screen”. In 1968, Xhajanka made his first documentary as a director, “Our University”.

From this year and from this film, for almost another 20 years, Adriana manages to make about 40 artistic documentaries, reportages, chronicles of the events of the time.

Adriana E. Xhajanka, passed away in 1994 due to a serious illness.
