Albanian cinematography brings an article by Mr. Kledi Rama, excerpted from his book: "Albanian Psychology – Reflections" * * * I feel like saying a few words about the Albanian actors and directors of the communist period regarding the idea of censoring films from the years before 1990. Not infrequently, I have heard or read from them that they do not feel good about the films played or shot. Timo Flloko, in an interview, said: "The public should know that for that guilt or crime in the creative aspect that we have committed, we apologize." I did not live that time. I was born when the communist system was dying, but as a citizen of this country I have the right to see and understand the reality of that time, even from the movies. Visually, they extinguish my curiosity about the way people lived, how they dressed, how marriage, friendship, the psychological and economic side of the country were conceived. They enable me to imagine myself how I might have lived in those times. It clearly seems that, if not all the films, some of them have served the system. And what harm can come from them? Why are politicians afraid? Why do they call them "danger" for democracy? On the contrary, films should be preserved as a memory in the memory of our history. Whether we like it or not, they are already national assets. The request for their ban, on the pretext that they have a bad effect on today's generations, is utopia. This thought sleeps in the mind of those who want to erase that part of history to cover their atrocities. Communists, in order not to appear communist, pretend to fight communism. If I take the film "Confrontation" as an example, I would tell you without fear that it is a documentary and not a film about the events of 1949-1950, regarding the lack of bread and the war against the so-called "kulaks". I would say the same about the film "Bloody Land", which shows more or less how the agrarian reform was carried out. These films, as well as others, seem to have been shot specifically to document the communist period. Of course, they are afraid, because the broadcast of the films keeps the national consciousness awake about the consequences of that system. In fact, cinematographic propaganda has been replaced by spots, video conferences and photos on Facebook or Instagram. They measure the work with "Like" and "Share". The more advertising, the more work they claim to have done, when in fact, not delivering today could cost you your job. Yesterday they checked the biography, today Facebook and Instagram. History should be written as it is, be it beautiful or ugly. Dear actors and directors, who have expressed that they would not like to act or shoot those films, you should know that you have served the future. If you had not played them at that time, it would be a moral obligation to do them today to show us how the propaganda of that time was done. We are honored for your acting prowess, for the scripts full of magical jokes. After so many years, we live with their wisdom, with the phraseology they carry. "Concert in 1936", "Captain", "Twice Mat", "Tale from the Past", "A Little Delay", "Our Friend, Tili", "Confrontation", "When a Film was Shot", " Man with a ball", "November the second", "Freedom or death", "Violin strings" and many other films played neatly, in an unattainable way by actors such as Kadri Roshi, Timo Flloko, Xhevdet Ferri, Mevlan Shanaj, Sulejman Pitarka, Sandër Prosi, Rikard Ljarja, Robert Ndrenika, Bep Shiroka, Agim Qirjaqi, Birçe Hasko, Pandi Raidhi, or the actresses Margarita Xhepa, Roza Anagnost, Tinka Kurti, Drita Pelingu, Eva Alikaj, Liza Laska, Marie Logoreci , Luiza Xhuvani and many other unforgettable actresses and actors, whose names I apologize for not having mentioned.
