Llazar Knuti (1927 – 1999)
Make-up artist / hairdresser!
Knuti was born in Fier on October 11. He held the position of director of the
“17 Nentori” Cinema in Tirana from July 16, 1953 to 1958. Knuti was also the head of administration at Kinostudio for two years. In 1960, he went to specialize in the German Democratic Republic where he graduated in Makeup at the “Babelsberg” film studio in the GDR. Together with Llukan Bushi, created the make-up department at Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”. Prepared the makeup of many actors and actresses in Albanian feature films.
His first film was “Debatik” – 1961, and then other films such as “Special Duty”; “Our land”; “Commissioner of Light”; “Echo in the coast” together with the other makeup artist Llukan Bushi. Later, he continued the make-up of 9 other films as the author or co-author with his students and collaborators, such as: “Triumph over death” – 1967 / “Estrada in the Screen” – 1968 / “Guerrilla Unit” – 1969 / “Why is this drum beats” – 1969 / “The brave” / “At the beginning of summer” / “The emperor’s bed” etc.
After a serious illness, he was completely out of work.
Bushi passed away in February 1999.
