Ermira Bahiti – Gjata!
Actress, director and teacher at ILA.

You knocked lightly on me like
the rain of the second autumn and
my dreams take root and flowers once again……..!

She was born in Elbasan on October 3, 1956. Graduated from high school in the 1974-1975 season. In 1979, she finished her studies at the High Institute of Arts, and that same year she started her career as an actress in the “Skampa” Theater of her city, in Elbasan, where she worked until 1982.

In September of 1982, she moved to Tirana as a teacher of the artistic word at the Academy of Arts. In 1999, she won the title “Assistant Professor”.

Among her most prominent roles in the theater are that of Beka in “Lit Earth” (1981) and that of Lili in the well-known comedy “Rain on the beach” (1984) by Teodor Laco. Then Livia in “The Literature Teacher” (1986) by Ruzhdi Pulaha, Mrs. Alving in “Shadows” (1994) by Ibsen, Judita in “Judita” (1995); Mrs. Bef in “The Rhinoceros” (1997); in the role of an old woman in “Chairs” (2000), a three-part play by Ionescu.

Her career in the Theater continues with other roles such as the role of Vere in “The Oldest Profession” (2000); Vita Simons in “Harry and Mary” (2008) etc.

There are also many roles with the “Skampa” theater troupe.


She started her feature film career in 1980 in “The Bride” in the role of the bride. Then she plays the role of Elsa in “In every season” – 1980, of Nora in “Pupils of my class” – 1984; in the role of Bakovica in “Hot Autumn `43” – 1985; in the role of Eli in “The Circle of Memory” (1987); as Life in “Behind the fasade” – 1992; as the bride in “Mother’s Heart” – 1993 and “Me, you and Kasandra” – 1999.

During the performance, the actress showed a lyrical and poetic nature, however, it was noticed that she is successful in the interpretation with wit and intelligence even in satirical figures. Ermira has been the host of several TV shows. In 1996, she was the director of the show “Monologues and rites of antiquity”. In 1999, she also sat in the director’s chair, in the television movie “Me, You and Kasandra” which holds her firm as a screenwriter and as an actress in one of the main roles, that of the mother. She is also a screenwriter (co-author with B. Bisha) of the film “Bolero”.

The collapse of the National Theater destroyed many actresses and artists who worked and contributed to this genre. Among those actresses was Mrs. Ermira Bahiti!
