Ismet Zusi
Actor and director of theater, variety shows and cinematography.
He has a long artistic career of about 40 years on stage and screen.
Born in the city of Lezhe on February 29, 1948. Since February has 29 days, once every four years, his family celebrates his birthday on February 28 or March 1. Zusi had his beginnings or first contacts with art as a singer in this city, doing duets with well-known singers of the time such as Xhovana Doko, Sander Bianku, Berhan Mesini, etc.
At the age of 16-17, participated as a singer in the Festival of Young Voices in Tirana with the song “The Mariner”. During his military service, Zusi was active in several performance meetings as an actor with the army troops. Even after that, Zusi participates and becomes active as an amateur actor with the variety show of Lezhe.
During this period he works as a painter even though he graduated from the Institute in Shkoder in the branch of Biochemistry. His passion and dream was to become an actor and for this he started to compete in Tirana, in front of a commission that included Sander Prosi, Mario Ashiku as well as big names in the performing arts. Ismet is stunned for a moment and has to recover from the presence of these luminaries. However, he competes and wins. Zusi completed his studies as an actor at the Higher Institute of Arts. For about two or three years he was also an actor in the theater “Migjeni” in Shkodra and then worked as a director in the Palace of Culture in the city of Lezhe and even as a director in the same institution.
For his contribution to the performing arts, Zusi was honored with various awards and certificates, as a laureate of the Variety Festival in Berat, Elbasan and Lezhe, performing during this period 28 variety premieres, 18 theater premieres.
His presence and contribution is also in several films of Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” or television of TVSH, mainly in secondary roles.
So, in 1976, “Days that brought spring” (TV), will be the first film for him in the role of a saboteur, Lulash. In 1979, played in the short film “Small Unit / Ceta e vogel” as a member of the reaction and nazi-fascist collaborators.
Then during the 80s, in 1982, he acted in two TV series “The Flame of the Mountains” in the role of a Russian immigrant in Montenegro and at the same time is also an assistant director in this film.
In 1984, Zusi played the role of an American radio operator in the movie “The Trap”; in 1985 in “Postponed wedding / Dasma e shtyre”, a year later, in 1986 in “The Stone of Covenant / Guri i Beses” and in 1988 in “The Rough Shore / Bregu i ashper”…
