Gjike Kurtiqi Playwright, writer, fabulist! He was born in Vithkuq, Korce, on June 3, 1943. He graduated from the Polytechnic "7 November" in 1959 and then from the Faculty of Political and Legal Sciences at the University of Tirana in 1970. In addition to being a journalist, from 1977-1983 he was the director of the Puppet Theater in Tirana, 1983 – 1992, director of Arts in the Ministry of Culture. She is known as one of the most famous writers in children's literature, mainly as a fabulist with 12 published books, among which we can mention: "Thenjilli i bivre"; "Dream of the fox"; "The stone that broke the cakan"; "Crow Peacock"; "Shadow of the morning"; "And the donkey becomes king"; "Stay with God" etc.

He is also the playwright with abundant creativity in the puppet theater, on whose stage 10 of his plays were performed. Highlights: "The boy who lost his watch" – 1984; "When the bees sting" – 1985; "Three oxen and a wolf" – 1986; "Veshkaushi Bunny" – 1987; "House of snow" – 1988; "Happy Bunnies" – 1990, etc. He is also the author of several comedies, among them "Majhlisi i Salep Sultani" performed at the "AZ Cajupi" Theater in Korce in 1981, with which he won the first prize in the theaters of the Army. "Uninvited Friends" was put on the stage of the People's Theater in 1978, where it used the parable of Shvejk from Hashek's well-known novel "The Good Soldier Shvejk", but now satirizing the military predominance of the Soviet Union over its vassal countries. In cinematography, he wrote the script for the beautiful film "Dream of a Chair" – 1984, as well as several scripts for animated films, where the most successful one was "Pumpkin and Fence". He is one of the most outstanding individuals of our national letters, in his journey in two times, during and after the communist era, that has left his mark on the Albanian aesthetic writing. An important part of the heritage of humorous letters, satire and especially fables is associated with the name of Gjikë Kurtiqi, where he was engaged and continues to contribute in a period of over fifty years, with quality flow and high aesthetic qualities.
