Dhimitër Anagnosti Director, cinematographer, screenwriter One of the greatest Albanian film directors. The author of about 20 Albanian films, among them very popular films such as "Poppies on the Wall" or "Fables from the Past" " holds the title "Honour of the Nation" for his work in Albanian cinema. Dhimiter Anagnosti is decorated with motivation as a man and an author who, through his films, marked a point of reference in Albanian art. Anagnosti himself gave an appreciation to the crew of the techniques with which he made the films, but also to his wife, Roza. "Gjoleka son of Abazi" produced in 2006, is the last film made by the director, a production which was well received by the public. He is the most important Albanian director of the last century, he was born in Vuno in the district of Vlora on January 23, 1936. He graduated from the "Ali Demi" high school in Vlora, where he stood out for his literary inclinations. He completed his higher studies with excellent grades at the Cinematographic Institute "VGIK" in Moscow, where he graduated as a cinematographer. Together with Viktor Gjika, they filmed the film "Man Never Dies", a screen adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's story, which was awarded the First Prize at the World Festival of Cinematographic Schools, which took place in the Netherlands in 1961, as a thesis. src="galleries" ids="122" display="basic_thumbnail" thumbnail_crop="0"]Began working as a cameraman at the "New Albania" Kinostudio in 1961, with the film "Debatik" (1961) and then with the film "Toka our" (1964). He also shot the first color documentary film "Decorative Stones". He made his first film as a director in 1966, together with Viktor Gjika, "Commissioner of Light" and a year later, alone as a director, the film "Silent Duel". In his 40-year career, he has made 14 feature films, 10 documentary films, won many prizes in various national and international competitions. He is the author of 15 screenplays and in almost all his films he wrote the screenplay himself. Anagnosti is a free-thinking man, persistent in defending his views, with a civic courage that has often targeted the mediocre. For his rare artistic qualities, as well as for his dignified works, he was honored with the title "People's Artist", 1987 and with the career cup at the 10th Albanian Film Festival. The year 1991 finds him engaged in the democratic movement for pluralism in Albania, a motive for which he was also elected a deputy of the Democratic Party in the Assembly of Albania (1991-1996). On April 12, 1992, he was appointed Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, a position he held until December 4, 1994, when he resigned. Anagnosti is the creator and chairman of the "Fan Noli" Foundation for Art and Culture, supporting the most active intellectuals, engaging in the strengthening of Albanian culture in the country and in the world. In 2001, he wrote and staged the only play "The Night of Knocks on the Glass" in TK. While in 2005 he reaped success with his latest film "Gjoleka, son of Abazi", a film honored with two international awards in Italy. The director is married to the well-known Albanian stage and screen actress, "Honored Artist" Roza Anagnosti.
