Mimika Luca (1937-2023)
Albanian Theater and Cinematography Actress!

Born in Gjirokaster on December 24, 1937. She had her first connections with art in 1951 as a dancer where she worked there until 1962 to later become a professional actress at the “Teatri Popullor” (now the National Theatre).

From 1977 until she retired, worked as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts in the Drama department.
Mimika Luca started in cinematography with an episodic role in 1963 in the film “Special Task”. While in the Theater, she started a year before 1962 in the drama “Slide” by Besim Levonje.

Other roles would continue both in Film and Theater. Luca mainly interpreted the roles and figures of girls and women, who suffer misfortune in love, in marital relations, in the family, etc.

As an example, we can mention “Residents of Building n. 6”; “Student of the last year; “The second face”; “Light”; “Communists”.

She tends towards an acting with unpleasant colors, with mournful, complaining tones, which created a desirable emotional background. Thus, she continued to play the loving, compassionate Mother, the brave, heroic woman and many other figures.

To mention some of them, although in episodic roles, for example in the Theater: “The General of the Dead Army” (1972) by Pirro Mani, where she plays Nice, “Red Signal” (1973) by Bashkim Kozel, “Rain in the Beach” Alberi’s Mother compassionate (1984) written by Teodor Laco, etc.;

In 1977, unlike her favorite model, she performed with nerve and passion her most successful role, that of Laja in the drama “Pomegranate flowers” by K. Jakoves, a role she also played on television with two series “When the foundations were laid”.

She gave a strong, persistent woman, within the political myth of the socially accepted and inspiring heroine, but, nevertheless, true with a realistic demeanor.
