Sotiraq Bratko
Successful actor of the “AZ Cajupi” Theater, Korce and Albanian Cinematography
Born in Korca on December 8, 1951. He is a well-known actor in the theatrical genre (especially with the troupe “A. Z. Cajupi” – Korca where he was born) as well as in the Cinema. He has over 70 roles in theater and 18 in feature films, being among the prominent actors of Korça. After graduating from the Institute of Arts, in 1973, Sotiraq was assigned to Fier to defend his diploma. Here he plays the role of Myrteza Kepi in the drama “Heroes of Linas”. Then they named him in Korça, where he plays in a drama by Namik Dokle, “The Wind of Heights”.
20 years on the scene in activity until 1993 when he emigrated for a family affair in Thessaloniki, Greece. His acting was noted for the truth and sincerity and the direct character of the action. The many roles he embodied on the stage of the “AZ Cajupi” Theater in Korce were independent figures that stood out for their found character and qualities.
However, the actor Sotiraq Bratko, although has performed many roles, he was embodied and identified with only one role, that of Tirka in two comedy films “Lady from the city” and then “A Comradess from the village”. Bratko became a favorite actor for film directors, for the simplicity of acting and expressive portrait. He has worked with many prominent Albanian directors such as Viktor Gjika, Dhimitraq Orgocka, who have trusted him with roles and Sotiraq has known how to return their trust with a successful performance.
In the films “Lady from the city” or ” A Comradess from the Country” he performs alongside icons of the scene such as Violeta Manushi, Pandi Raidhi, Stavri Shkurti, Robert Ndrenika, etc.
It starts on film in v. 1973 in “The Furrows” in the role of Skender and in the future he builds several characters that remain successful in the history of Albanian cinema, such as the one of Latif Aga in the movie “Freedom or Death”, or Kujtimi in “Old Cartridge”, a role with which he won Medallion of the 4th Albanian Film Festival.
Other characters are Jani in “Friends” (1982) and especially Maksi in “Small Encirclement” (1986);
He returns to the stage in May 2014 after 21 years working with a role in the drama “The Second Chapter” by Neil Simon under the direction of Qëndrim Rijani.
