Elvira Diamanti
Albanian Theater and Cinematography actress
Born on November 30, 1962, in Tirana. Strangely, the cinema has never been in her dreams, except that of being a teacher and writer. But anyway, the first contact with films was at the age of 8 when her older sister, Kinostudio’s cameraman, Diana Diamanti, took her to the shooting of the film “Captain”. When she was still a student of the “Sami Frasheri” High School, she was called to a selection among 200 girls from different high schools in the “Palace of Culture”, the place where the director Anagnosti would choose the protagonist girl who would perform in the film “In our house”.
They reach the final together with the current actress of the film Tatiana Leskaj who wins the role after the screening of this film. The loss makes her pessimistic about a future as a film actress, but….
But the beginnings of her artistic career will come later, with the role of Teutas, in 1979, with the film “Radiostacion” directed by Rikard Ljarja . That same year, an episodic but quite significant role, that of the wife of our national hero Cerciz Topulli (Timo Flloko).
After that, many roles would continue in the cinematography and also in the theater, but the role that made her famous is that of Marigo in the movie “Fairytale from the Past” in 1987.
A role for which she was awarded the III Prize at the VIII Albanian Film Festival held in Tirana from April 18 to 22, 1989. In 1988, she graduated from the High Institute of Arts. It has been activated in the “Teatri Popullor” since v. 1986. She worked until 2002 at the National Theater and from this year she was appointed Director of the National Children’s Theater (formerly the Puppet Theater) until 2008.
Among the best roles in the theater, we can mention Nafia in “Shadow of the Night”; Vera “Under the lights of the stage”; Zana in “The life of another”; Elsa in “Apartment 176” (not filmed); Doruntina in “Who brought Doruntina”; Marjana in “Moonless night”; Lale in “Sisters”; Dama in “Summer Days” etc.
With the role of Mokades in the movie “Sako’s Wedding” (1998), through a psychological interpretation, she presented the type of a lowly woman who sought to realize her repressed love, affirming her fertility and instinct as a fertile woman.
In 2008, she was appointed as Head of Protocol at the Presidency of the Republic. Holds the post of director of the Central State Film Archive. She has proven that she has never seen the films in which she has performed from beginning to end and even that they liked them!!
