Gezim Kame belongs to the directors of the golden generation of the Albanian scene, especially in the theater genre, but he has also performed several roles in films as an actor, although not many.
He was born in Tirana on November 7, 1947, career director, former artistic and general director of the National Theater, thirty years former lecturer at the Academy of Arts and thirteen years dean of this faculty. In 1969 he studied dramaturgy at the High Institute of Arts in Tirana. After graduation, he continued to work at the Institute. In 1994, he started working with the National Theater, directing over 30 productions released by this stage.
In October 1997, he was appointed director of “National Theater”.
He debuted on the screen as an actor in 1972 with a small role in “Conscience”. Then he plays in 4 other films as an actor. In 1978, he played in the movie “Concert in 1936”; in 1984 we see him in the movie “Students of my class”.
Mr. Kame’s last film as an actor was in 1987 in “Tracks”. While his directorial activity is very wide, starting in 1982 with the well-known comedy “Rain on the Beach”. Many have appeared on the stage of the theater, especially after the 90s and 2000s, from which we can mention a few such as: “Crazy Island” (1995); “Backyard Games” (1996); “Ring” (2003); “A grave for the king’s major” (2003); “Wooden plate” (2005); “Museum”; “All with me” (2009); “Time to get crazy” (2009) etc.
Around the year 2000, he broke ties with the National Theater, to build a private company “Publimedia”, which in fact did not succeed because it did not find the right support from the relevant institutions, or better from the state itself because there is no law for private theaters .
In 2005, a dream of his came true as a wish and idea of an independent theater stage. “Theatre “Kame”.
