Josif Koçi (1954-2019)
Theater actor “A. Moses” – Durres!
Koci was born in Pogradec on January 15, 1954. In the period 1973-1976, he studied at the High Institute of Arts in Tirana in the dramaturgy department.
He graduated in 1977, and a year later he started working in the Variety Theater of Pogradec directed by Mario Ashiku, being for three years a part of this troupe.
The actor has performed professionally in several well-known shows such as: “Roots”, “Intellectual Father”, “Nora from Kelmendi”, written by Fadil Kraja, etc.
In 1980, he was appointed as an actor in the “Aleksander Moisiu” Theater in Durres, becoming an important part of this institution and performing in over 25 dramaturgical works staged by different directors in this theater. Among his performers, we can single out: “Fourteen-year-old groom”, “Tragic American nights”, “Serafina Topia”, “House of rabbits”, “Old eyes”, etc.
Even in cinematography, the actor’s name can be found in Kinostudio films such as: “Martyrs of Monuments” (1980) in the role of Stefan; “Small Encirclement” as Vaso (1986); “Years of waiting” (1990). After a serious illness, he died at the age of 65 on November 5, 2019.
