Elida Cangonji (October 31, 1953 – November 28, 2016)
Actress and psychologist.
She was born on October 31, 1953, in Tirana. Quite by chance, she started her career as an actress, although small with a few feature films, but with so few interpretations, it must be said that she played successful roles.
When they told her that she could play in the film, and they even offered her the main role, she was somewhat taken aback, she refused, but still driven by inner curiosity and of course by a somewhat adventurous motive… she accepted.
Although in the auditoriums of the faculty of medicine, her seat was empty every time she had to appear to do the next doubles on the set. Zana and Deda, Vera dhe Shpetimi, Zara e Mato Gruda, or “Mesuesja” and Kanani, was the same young actress who was selected by the directors as the different image of the film. She caught the eye of the directors as she took the bus to go to the faculty of medicine in the same place where many of those who worked at Kinostudio took it. So after doing the screenings, she joined the filming crew in Tropoja for the filming of the movie “Rrugë te Bardha”, in the well-known role of Zana, which is also her first movie in 1974.

In order to perform this role as well as possible, she had to go to the power station after 10 o’clock at night to learn technical maneuvers. However, in the same year she also plays in three other films.
The director Gezim Erebara looks for it in the film “At the beginning of summer”, and then in the films “Explosion” and “War path”. In 1977, the well-known director Viktor Gjika offered her the role of Zare in “Man with Cannon”. Then her energy was abundant, she managed to do both school and acting, without the slightest hesitation. Elida continued her studies at that time in a difficult faculty such as medicine.

Elida Cangonji has worked with well-known Albanian film directors such as: Viktor Gika, Gëzim Erebara, Muharrem Fejzo, having as partners great actresses such as Rikard Ljarja, Timo Flloko, Astrit Cerma, to add then the wonderful Robert Ndrenika , Tinka Kurti, the late Minella Borova, Drita Pelingu, etc.
Elida Cangonji, together with her Danish husband, had a residence in the south of France.

After working as a general practitioner, then as a pediatrician, she also worked as a child psychologist. She passed away after a serious illness on November 28, 2016 in France, where he lived for a long time.
