She was born in Tirana on October 15, 1953. Mujo continued his secondary studies at the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja” in the canto branch. She then completed her studies at ILA, as an actress, graduating in 1975. Since she was a student, she was involved in the theater, when she performed the role of Masha in N. Pogon’s famous drama “Kremlin Hours” with Icon’s partner, Naim Frasheri. Then Yllka finished her studies and was appointed to the “Teatri Popullor” (TK). Her artistic career will give the public of about 90 roles in the theater and cinematography. In the theater she performs with dozens of roles and excuses, from which we can mention the role of Luiza Miller in the drama “Intrigue and love” in v. 1979, that of Bardha in Kole Jakov’s drama “The Great Flood” (1977), In “Maiden of Mountains” by L. Papa, Sheila in the drama “The Inspector’s Visit” (1981), Luiza in the drama “Luisa Miller” by Shiler, Euromen in Efthimia’s play “Prometheus”, Nafia in “Shadows of the Night” by V. Kokona (1986).

In 1987, she played the role of Marie in U. Shakespeare’s comedy “Twelfth Night” with professionalism and humor. A year later, she stands out with another interpretation by Shakespeare, Katarina in “The Taming of the Rebel”; She will also perform successfully in comedies such as in “8 persons plus” by F. Rad; Frosina in Miller’s “Greed” (2005). In v. 1990 interprets the role of Nora in “Moonlit Night” by Edmond Budina. While playing the role of Julia in the drama “Fernando Kraft wrote me this letter” by Tancred Dorst (1995), she won the “Aleksandër Moisiu” award as “Best Actress” of the National Theater Festival. In 2005, she stands out in the interpretation of Elena Andojenevne, where she showed poetic feelings, the human sadness that permeated the sad yet changed world of this unlucky woman challenged by life. Her interpretation has made her win and be honored with many awards. With the role of Klaudia in the drama “To be a mother” she won the “Best Actress” Award at the 5th Festival “Albanian Theater in Macedonia-Dibra 2006”, the role of Beatrice in the drama “View from the Bridge”, a role for which she received The “Best Actress” Award, the “Apollon 2008” Festival, etc.

We also mention her roles, as Ane Rochet, in April 2007 in the drama “Hotel Franca (Music 2)” by Marguerite Duras directed by Erjon Kame. This work was translated and adapted into Albanian by her daughter, Elia Zaharia. Also, in 2009, she played the role of Filomena Marturano” in the drama with the same title by the well-known Eduardo De Felippo. Even in cinema, her roles, although they are not numerous, have remained in the mind of the spectator from the characters she has been able to interpret. From a young age, when she was only 17 years old, she was chosen by the director Viktor Gjika (People’s Artist) for the role of Alma in the film “The Bronze Bust” thus passing a selection among 150 candidate girls for this role. In 1971, the role of Lilo Labe in the film “Mountains Clad in Green” is distinguished, a role that will make her known to the public, in 1975 the film “The Alleys that Seek the Sun” in the role of Sam, in 1975 the film “Beni walks by himself” in the role of Leta, Ben’s mother, in 1976 in the film “Lady from the City” in the role of Shpresa, in 1984 in the film “Taulanti seeks a sister” in the role of Zana, a role for which she will be awarded the Medallion of the Festival at the VI Albanian Film Festival held in Tirana from October 1 to 5, 1985.

Yllka Mujo was also the presenter of the 24th Song Festival in 1985. In 2015, she was honored with the Career Award at the Monte Carlo Film Festival. For her artistic merits, Yllka Mujo has been awarded the high title “Merited Artist”.
