Dionis Bubani (1926-2006) Writer, humorist and translator.
He was born in Bucharest on September 18, 1926. Attended primary and secondary school in Bucharest. In 1940, Dionis Bubani, together with his family, returned to Albania, to his father’s birthplace. After four years of returning to Albania, the installed system imprisoned his father Gjergj Bubani, and thus Dionis, who at a young age had to take care of himself and his family. He works in a bicycle workshop, sells cigarettes on the streets and in cafeterias, but he also worked as a cartelist and even as a typist in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Since he was the son of a publicist, he also started writing. At first, he published his works in “New literary” and “Youth”, while in 1946 he began to collaborate with the humorous magazine “Hosteni”, whose editor he later became. During his creative work he dealt with journalism, satire, humor and literature for children and adults, translations and writing comedies. For his creative work and translations he was awarded several times.

It is interesting to mention that Dionis Bubani has also translated Lasgush Poradeci’s “Poem” from Romanian to Albanian, which Poradeci wrote while he was taking the entrance exam at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest.
Dionis Bubani moved to Tirana on February 10, 2006.
