The month of January is special in the performing arts calendar because some of the luminaries of this art were born. Robert Ndrenika, "People's Artist" & "Honour of the Nation", one of the giants of the Albanian stage and screen. He was born on January 10, 1942 in Tirana, while his family is from the village of Vuno in Himares. After completing the 7th year of the "11 Janari" school in Tirana and then the "Qemal Stafa" high school, he attended higher studies at the "Aleksander Moisiu" School for Actors near the People's Theater (today the National Theatre), "Acting" branch. He graduated in 1964. He started his professional career in 1964 when he was appointed as an actor at the "Skampa" Theater in Elbasan. He will work in Elbasan until 1971 and then move to the "Youth Theater" of the High Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts), where he continues to work until 1973. In 1974, he works as an actor in the Theater Popular. For several years he worked as a teacher of "Mastery of the actor and the artistic word", in the branch of Acting, at the High Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts). In the years 1991-1992 he was appointed to the post of director of the National Theatre. From 1992-1996, in the first democratic elections, he was elected deputy of Elbasan in the People's Assembly. In 1996 he retired but continued to play various roles both in the theater and cinematography. During his artistic life he worked not only with the "great masters of directing" such as Kujtim Spahivogli, Mihallaq Luarasi and Pirro Mani (People's Artist) but also with other well-known directors such as Esat Oktrova, Dhimitër Anagnosti (People's Artist) , Viktor Gjika (People's Artist), Muharrem Fejzo, Piro Milkani (People's Artist), Saimir Kumbaro, Gëzim Kames, Serafin Fankut (People's Artist), Spiro Dunit. In his artistic life, he has played over 100 roles in the theater and about 30 in films, roles which have been highly appreciated both by critics and the general public. On the stage of the People's Theater (today the National Theatre), art lovers have appreciated him for his masterful performance in various roles. Here we can mention the role of the prefect of Tirana, Qazim Mulleti in the comedy "Prefect" by Besim Lëvonja (Deserved Artist), the role of Uncle Ramadan in the drama "Communists" by Ruzhdi Pulaha, the role of Koz Dynja in the drama "Dead River" of Kudret Velça, the role of Thoma Çakshiri in the comedy "Rain on the Beach" by Teodor Laço, etc. At the National Theater Festival, in 1994, he was honored with the "Best Actor" Cup for the role of Di Spete in De Filippo's "Maggia e Madhe" In cinematography, his first role will be the role of Gjergji in the movie "Ošetimë na pstost" in 1966. Later, other roles would continue. Here we can mention the role of Xhemal in the film "I teti ne bronx" in 1970, the role of Shaban in the film "War Paths" in 1974, the role of the Under Prefect in the film "Concert in 1936", a role for which he will he was also awarded the Festival Cup at the III Albanian Film Festival held from April 21 to 28, 1979 in Tirana, the role of Stefi, Mir's father in the film "In our house" in 1979, the role of Kristofori in the movie "Students of my class" in 1984, the role of Vangjeli in the movie "Tale from the past", the role of Lleshi in the movie "Parullat" in 2001, etc. To honor his artistic activity, Robert Ndrenika was awarded in 1979 with the title of "Deserved Artist" and in 1988 with the title of high "Artist of the People". Since July of v. 2012 holds the title "Honour of the Nation".
