Actor and Character | Marie Logoreci – "Lokja" September 23, 1920 – June 19, 1988 Kole Jakova: "Loken, I wrote the apostate for Mary. She deserves the highest title for an actress, "People's Artist". Immortal icon of the Albanian scene. The symbol of Loki, the mother woman of the north. The great director Pirro Mani would call him a personification of Epic. While her colleague, the other actress Drita Pelinku, called her "The artist who embodies the moral values of the Albanian woman". The history of the theater knows actresses who have been characterized as dramatic, just as it knows other actresses who have been defined as comic, lyrical, tragic, etc. Dramatic actresses have something in common, as do comic and lyrical actresses, so discovering what is personal about Marie Logoreci would be the safest starting point to appreciate what makes Marie special, herself and not someone else. another. Who has seen it and not moved, did not wipe a secret tear from its interpretation. "Toka e jone", the drama from which the character of Loke emerged, had its premiere on May 1, 1964, in the Cinema of the city of Shkodra. The dramatic character of Loke's figure carries some powerful dramas, which Maria discovers, experiences and expresses as only she and no one else can express them in this role. It expresses the drama of an honest woman who suffers the drama of a broken woman, masterminded by Tuc Maku; the drama of the pain of the divorce with her children and the drama of the land, of the stolen property by Tuc Maku. The greatest Albanian playwright, the author of this play, Kole Jakova (1916-2002), describes the great actress Marie Logoreci in this way, who knew more realistically how to embody a character like that of Loke, and other mountain women like the blind Mother Prenda ( Cuca e Maleve); Gjelina (Great Flood). * * * Those who know Marie Logoreci closely, especially in relation to her work on stage, feel a proud pain now that she is no longer with us. The more time goes by, the more her image as an actress will grow, the more her unrepeatable roles will be remembered. When Albania was liberated, I was appointed director of the first Albanian state theater. At that time, the theater started working with partisan actresses, who came from the mountains, such as Besim Levonja, Anton Pano, etc., amateurs from different cities of the country, in love with the art of the stage, who had acted before, such as Loro Kovaci, Mihal Popi, Mihal Stefa, Xhevat Serezi, Gjon Karma. Besides these, in the theater we also had young girls like Behije Cela, Marta Burda, Liza Vorfi. The problems of the theater were many and difficult. Actresses like Mihal Popi, Kadri Roshi and someone else had only… 4 primary classes, while Besim Levonja had never been to school. Therefore, the gaps had to be filled. At this time, Maria appeared who was a singer at Radio Tirana. I told her that you should come to the theater. – Yes, I like to sing – he answered. – Well, from time to time you will also sing. Behije Cela and Liza Vorfi, who sang on the radio, also came here. – I will think once – she said. That's how Maria came to join our ensemble. The directors Pandi Stillu and Sokrat Mio, who are being tested, said the best words. The scene was not unknown to Marie. In a foreign part, Marie was given the lead role, along with Naim Frasher. The success of both of them was great. Marie performed excellently in this first role where she was affirmed as an actress with merit. According to the information I know, she did not sing on the radio anymore. Then she performed other roles, in which she stood out more and more. I mean the role of Fatima, the sorceress in the drama "Halili and Hajria". Her game with partner Naim Frasherin was indeed something rare. Her and Loro Kovac's laughter and their behavior revolted even the actresses in the studio, not the viewers when she appeared on stage. Maria excelled not only here, but in every role, as in Shakespeare, in the Spanish drama, etc. When I was writing the play "Toka e jone", I remember how Loke imagined Marie Logoreci. Only Marie, I thought, could play that role properly. Director Pandi Stillu accepted the idea and she accepted the role with great joy. In addition to the tests she did in the studio, she also worked at home until late at night. After a few days he told me: – You are driving me crazy. Night and day I can't get the image of Loki out of my mind. I try to push him away, but I can't….I'm starting to love him with all my heart! The premiere of this show was truly a remarkable event. Lokja, this painful, honest and proud mother stole the viewer from her arrival on the scene…. With how much pain, with how much nobility and bravery she cried when she found out about her son's murder: "Nobody dares to cry for me tonight in my house". The audience was shocked by these words and moved. Their eyes filled with tears. She made the hall roar. The words: "Thank you Murrash for everything, for the honor of the house, for your mother, for your brother and sister and for your fellow farmers". These words, this scene, have remained etched in my mind and heart. It is true what they say: "You, Kole, wrote a Loki, Maria embodied a Loki".

The role of Loki entered the golden fund of our theater, as one of the peaks of acting interpretation. Maria also stood out as a powerful actress in Loni Pape's drama, "Cuca e Maleve" in the role of Cuca's mother, the blind mother. The blind old woman speaks and shocks you with her attitude. Maria was a deep connoisseur of the soul of the people. This figure also remains unsolved. But Cuce's mother is not Lokja. Maria knew how to break away from the figures created by her and not to repeat herself. She, Mother Prenda, is indeed a mountain woman, but a different mother. Another figure created by Maria has remained indelible in the memory of the viewers, including Mrs. Gjela in the drama "The Great Upheaval". Here, in addition to the others, one more merit of Marie should be noted. She spoke with her demeanor even when she didn't speak. She spoke even without speaking, surprising us with her silent attitude. When he entered the stage in the drama "The Great Flood" with a stick in his hand, dressed in the characteristic costume of Kurbini's mountaineers, he stood on that raised tree, it seemed as if he came from distant Illyria and took his place in the middle of the stage like a monument. With an acting force, Maria also played in the roles of world dramaturgy, creating other outstanding figures in the plays of Shakespeare, Schiller, Lorca, etc. She has left us a gallery of types, often carved with unrepeatable knots. Her roles are a great school for young actresses, who in the interpretations of her roles will find an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
