Tonin Harapi Composer, "People's Artist" Born in Shkoder on June 9, 1926. He spent his childhood and early youth in an environment of musical traditions, such as the city of Shkodra with musicians such as Palokë Kurti, Frano Ndoja, Martin Gjoka , Mikel Koliqi, Zef Shestani, Prenk Jakova, etc. The latter were also his music teachers and leaders of the orchestra formations where the future composer practiced as an instrumentalist while studying at the Jesuit Pontifical Seminary in Shkodër. But, since after the Second World War the clergy was banned from school and artistic activity, Tonin Harapi had to practice his piano as a self-taught student until 1947 when he resumed his studies at the Artistic High School in Tirana with other well-known pedagogues of that time. such as Lola Gjoka, Tonin Guraziu, Kostantin Trako, etc. As an autodidact, he will continue to study and write in Shkodër and Gjirokastër (during his military service) until he is finally allowed to go for higher studies at the Conservatory (Tchaikovsky) in Moscow (1959) where he could only stay for two years due to the breakdown of relations with BS. In 1964, he graduated in Tirana. Tonin Harapi also worked as a lecturer at the High Institute of Arts (now called the Academy of Fine Arts). He is a composer of all musical forms and genres where he stood out for his vocal lyrics and piano miniatures. Quite well known for the many melodious songs performed in various activities. In addition to musical activity. He is also the composer of several soundtracks of Albanian films such as "Lugina e pushkatareve" (1970) or that of the animated film "Dy gosti" (1992). He passed away on July 30, 1992.
