Mirush Kabashi (1948 – 2023) Successful Albanian theater and cinematographer, lecturer. Holds the title "Honour of the Nation" & "Deserved Artist" He was born on April 17, 1948. His origin is from Gjakova. An actor of about 100 roles, in the theater and over 20 in films. He is the son of an Albanian family from Kosovo, his father was from Gjakova, while his mother is from Durrës, but both are very devoted to the education of children with high schools. Since childhood, Mirushi enjoyed not only theater performances but also movies, to the extent that he watched them several times. We watched Hamlet more than 15 times, in the summer or winter cinema. He has always wanted to watch films, and admire them by discussing the participating artists. After that, getting close to acting was a chance, a miracle that happens once in a lifetime. Mirushi was the third son of the family, and at that time there were some absurd criteria that did not allow the third child to continue high school, if the two oldest did. Since he had participated in several high school festivals and stood out as a high school student who might have some kind of predisposition to become an actor, he was given the opportunity to compete. It was the only chance he was given, either to continue as an actor or to drop out of high school. Mirushi's father did not have him very willingly, but later he obeyed due to the pressure of his two older brothers. However, Mirush Kabashi prepares for the competition and wins. This is how he started his artistic career on the stages of the Academy of Arts, where he continued his acting studies from the icons of Albanian cinematography, Kadri Rroshi and Prokop Mima. There, even though some of the actors did not graduate from high schools, they were true masters of the stage, people with an incredible passion and great talent. Let's not forget that in the theater these artists were lucky enough to have an Albanian-Italian, the great actor Nikolin Xhoja, an actor who is no longer alive, but who without exaggeration was an international talent, who did not have the opportunity due to the closing conditions that there was room to display his artistic talents. In this theater he learns to be an actor, of course with difficulty and vicissitudes like everyone else, but he succeeds in taking part in films and plays. Thanks to persistence, desire and passion, work has never been avoided under any conditions. When it comes to trying, to have the possibility of contact with the spectator, he always did not refuse, but on the contrary, he tried bravely. One of these fields in art is that of recitation, even being considered as one of the greatest interpreters of poetry in Albania. It is also known for staging two monodramas, "The True Apology of Socrates" and "God Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran". The "Apology of Socrates" appeared before the audience after the fall of the regime in 1997. He has also won several international awards for this monodrama, the most appreciated being the "Golden Sphinx" at the Cairo International Festival of Experimental Theater in 1997. He has often been the presenter of numerous artistic activities. He has made a great contribution to Albanian filmography. While a part of his life has been dedicated to the theater with his diverse roles. Mirush Kabashi, has been decorated by the President with the title "Deserved Artist" His roles and jokes are engraved in the minds of all those who loved him even a little Albanian theater and filmography, becoming part of everyday slang and raising even higher the name of the great master of the Albanian stage as an artist who knows how to touch people's hearts with the power of interpretation.
