Boris Ikonomi (1956-2008)
Painter, director of animated films.
Born on April 16, 1956. Graduated from the High Institute of Arts for painting in Tirana. On August 16, 1979, he started working as a painter in the department of cartoons near Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”.
In the same year, Ikonomi made his first film “Agroni dhe nafta” being simultaneously a painter, director and co-author of the screenplay .
Other films: “Work is gold” (1981) and “Anger of letters” (1981); “Ilira” honored with an award (1983); “Need helps you” (1984); “Zeri i Gjokut zeri i Tokes” (1985); “The Spider and the Moth” (1986); “Two brothers and a wolf” (1987); “Mind, mind” honored with the second prize, etc.
The recently mentioned film “Two brothers and a wolf” was awarded the first prize at the 7th Documentary and Cartoon Film Festival in 1987.
With the reorganization of the Albanian cinematography in 1991, the cartoon department was separated as a separate studio, called “AlbaFilm Animation”.
From 1994, Boris Ikonomi was appointed as the director of this production studio.
Passed away on November 15, 2008!
