Ilir Gjata
Electronic engineer, voice operator.
Born in Tirana on April 14, 1949. He finished his studies as an engineer in weak currents at the University of Tirana. On January 3, 1973, he was appointed as an engineer in the sound department near Kinostudio “Shqiperia e re”, working for a time as a sound engineer and operator in several chronicles and documentary films.
In 1973, he made his first feature film as a sound operator, “Brazdat” and a year later the children’s film “The Youngest City in the World” in 1974. In the same year, Gjata was appointed as the chief engineer of Kinostudio, directing the technical and technological production process and, in cooperation with other engineers, the construction of the new studio.
In 1984, returned as a sound operator, making the feature film “Who dies on foot” followed by “The Uninvited” – 1985, both films successful and with a great soundtrack.
Until 1991, worked as a sound operator in nearly 12 feature films, among which we can mention: “The Small Encirclement” which was awarded the First Prize at the Albanian Film Festival in 1987.
“Wax Shirts” – 1987; “Butterfly in my cabin” – 1988; “The Ballad of Kurbini” – 1991, a film with large dimensions and many sound effects; “Death of a horse” – 1991; “Colonel Bunker” – a film that was awarded the Cup of the 11th Albanian Film Festival – 1996.
