Agim Shuke(1942-1992)
Actor, acting teacher. Holds the title “Merited Artist”.

Born on April 8, 1942, in Kučova (Stalin City), in a simple working family. Agimi’s father was connected to the Kuçova cinema, where he worked as a technician until he died (at the age of 50). Perhaps this father’s work connected Agimi with cinema and film at the same time, which he nurtured as a dream since childhood and realized later to devote himself to it finally.

In his artistic career, he has given life to a large number of roles. Shuke completed his studies at the High Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts) in 1966 and then became an actor with the professional troupe “Petro Marko” Theater of Vlore, becoming one of the most vocal artists of this troupe.

In his first roles, Shuka stood out for his ability to embody characters with dramatic and heroic behavior, who acted energetically, with pathos and temperament, but without diluting the truth of life and the simplicity of communication. This can be seen in his roles in the plays “Lidhur si fisheke gjerdani”; “Jatagani”; “Flag Road”; Budi Street “723”; “Second face” etc.

Then he will start working as an actor in the “Popular Theater”
and in 1986 he will be a teacher of “Acting Mastery” at the High Institute of Arts.

Agimi performed several roles in the theater troupe of this institute. One of his most impressive characters was the one he gave to Zeno in the comedy “Rain on the Beach” by T. Lacos.

Actor and teacher Agim Shuke will perform many roles in the Theater and 18 of them in the Cinema.

In film, he started with the role of Dini in “Oshetime ne bregdet” (1966). Other roles would continue, such as the role of Bashkimi in the film “Old Wounds” in 1969, the role of Sandri in the film “At the beginning of summer” in 1975, the role of the Albanian Naval Base Commissar in the film “Face to face”, the role of Musa in the movie “The Militant” in 1984, etc.

The interpretation of Anila’s father in the film “A girl and a boy” in 1990 will be the last role of his career as an actor.

On April 7, 1992, one day before his birthday, he passed away prematurely after an assassination attempt. Agim Shuke is a rare case in the art world, when an artist falls victim to a crime, the hand of which has not been discovered to this day.

For his contribution to the scene, he was awarded the title of “Merited Artist”
